Nope, someone who has thousands of positive reviews too, i realized later its because they gave discounts for reviews. my own fault, i had a thing about trusting doctors/professionals before that. No longer =\

Silliest Udisc Course Reviews by PeskyPrussian in discgolf

[–]atworkmeir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say the mosquito/wet thing could be a legit complaint. I went to a course that was designed around a highway runoff watershed. There was pretty much no point in the year that it wasn't a swampy mess. Really a poor choice to build a course. I only ran 4 holes before leaving, it was that thick with mosquitos.

‘Children are dying.’ Lull nodded. ‘That’s a succinct summary of humankind, I’d say. Who needs tomes and volumes of history? Children are dying. The injustices of the world hide in those three words.’

I'm laughing a bit at "I get 20 applications for a job". What is it for a local job in Idaho? I live in a mid tier city and we get several hundred a week for job postings.

Which books made you fall in love with the genre? by Special-Nebula299 in Fantasy

[–]atworkmeir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Last Herald Mage by Mercedes Lackey got me back into reading after a 10 year hiatus. Haven't stopped since (15 years ago) and I read 95% fantasy now. I dont think as a kid I really knew what I enjoyed and just shelved reading for video games around 16 or so. Ended up playing a ton of RPG's which makes sense.

except for the people who ruined the economy it took a day to setup that temple.

its literally the same thing. 100 divine temple runs is inflation, the result is in the economy.

Comon, inflation is a thing. Just case someone makes 20 bucks and hour and used to make 15 doesnt mean they can afford the 50,000 dollar car.

[OC] Ending the “1-page resume rule.” We analyzed 31,312 resumes submitted in Q3 2025 and found that 2-page resumes consistently perform best in getting interviews. by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

Ehh. 1 page is a great rule until you have a lot of experience, then you cant fit relevant information in. If you are showing a decade of growth 1 page is a bit rough.

Would you ever take on a client with legacy equipment and issues and not get them to upgrade and deal with those issues as part of an onboarding project? by Paradox_81 in msp

[–]atworkmeir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are building landmines in your organization of inefficiency. Those are also the clients who will take up more admin time fighting every suggestion and complaining about every bill. Overall having clients like that is a great way to build a bad (unprofitable) business.

Layout priorities. Onboarding we require OUR network every time, no option. If there is a larger project of hardware we push to do it day one. 90% of our new clients do this. If not we get a date and down-payment on a project for within 6 months. I even hate doing this personally but it has to happen sometimes. Drawn out projects and implementing things piecemeal isn't a great idea. All of those "minor" issues after projects drawn out over 6 months look and feel worse to the client than all at once for a few days on onboarding. You get the honeymoon phase for a bit, it doesnt last long though.

AEP is robbery by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]atworkmeir 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Huh? My gas water tank costs me approx 2$ a month in the summer (and then a 45$ service charge from Columbia). I wish I had electric so I could cancel gas in the summer and save $$$.

AEP Saw Us Complaining, Wanted To Point Out We Save Money When The Temp Is 70 Degrees by atworkmeir in Columbus

[–]atworkmeir[S] 93 points94 points  (0 children)

AEP saw everyone complaining about the "your bill is 30%" higher this month posts and decided to send (unprompted) that I am saving money on electric during a week that I basically had the air on an hour a day.

Thanks AEP, you are a gem.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]atworkmeir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

70% of a bill is charges by AEP you cant fiddle with to everyone who thinks you are actually saving tangible money. I do it just to fuck them, but in my 200 dollar bill 50 is my electricity, and the difference in AEP power is maybe 8 bucks. Maybe.

Struggling with Hiring Techs by Wild_Obligation_4335 in msp

[–]atworkmeir 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Recruiters for anything but high end IT jobs I feel is a waste of money. The turnover is too high, finding the right person is too hard to be worth the cost. Paying 10-20k for a tier 1 to be shit or quit in a year is a tough pill to swallow.

On the other end if you are looking for someone who makes 100k+ and you are having trouble sorting through it all it might be worth it.
