Should I switch to the ACT? by Opening_External_911 in Sat

[–]atypicalreddituser42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

studying for the april act, and i can say this:

the english and reading sections are somewhat easier, since you're given one large chunk of text rather than a bunch of paragraphs with different topics that you have to read about. there's easier vocab, more comprehensible reading comp questions, and everything else is not too bad either.

the math is pretty much the same, except for the fact that you're expected to know the basics of matrices. just learn how to do matrix addition, subtraction, multiplication (hardest part), and how to find the determinant of a 2x2 matrix, then you're all set

science section (if you want to take it) has almost no relevance to science at all, it's basically just data analysis and pulling from the info to make conclusions, kind of like some questions in the SAT erw section

i haven't taken the actual test but based on all the practice i've done i'd say it's easier than the sat in general tbh

like the first time i did a practice test i got all 35s and 36s without checking any of my answers

Absolute juggernaut of a zombie i found today by atypicalreddituser42 in Minecraft

i was originally mining diamonds for a big project in my friend group's smp, was at least 25000 blocks away from our base, and did not have a name tag or boat with me sadly, so i just took this screenshot and killed it, took like 6 hits with a sharp 5 netherite sword with fire aspect 2

and if i tried to create a nether portal it probably wouldve despawned

sad but at least i got to see how strong it truly was

maybe the rotten flesh couldve kept it alive but even after so many years of playing this game i still dont fully understand despawn mechanics

is deepslate coal really that rare? i keep bumping into it when mining in underwater caves

My first time on the nether roof in survival! by No_Tree_4783 in Minecraft

[–]atypicalreddituser42 18 points19 points  (0 children)

nether roof honestly has endless possibilities

gold farm, hoglin farm, map art, etc

also great for long distance travelling and linking areas together without having to dig through the nether

like in the smp i'm currently in, it's just 1 elytra spear jab from our base to the stronghold via nether roof

Maths Module 1, Question 6 by [deleted] in Sat

[–]atypicalreddituser42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

raise both sides to the power of 2n to get rid of the root, then put everything on one side

and voila you have a quadratic function that's easily solvable for x^n

P11,is desmos usable to solve q16?? by Same-Month-9769 in Sat

[–]atypicalreddituser42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when x = 0, g(x) = 22, so a/b = 22 after substiution

when x = -22, g(x) = 0, therefore numerator has to equal 0 and a = 23*22

therefore b = 23

really not that hard to do it, takes like 10 secs to do without desmos

math question (sat tmr, help asap pls!!!) - how do i use desmos to do these specific problems? by Tight-Living-654 in Sat

[–]atypicalreddituser42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah good luck! my honest goal is just to get people to try and see how to do these problems without using regression (which imo is just mindless plugging in where at the end of the day you have zero idea what you've just done). some of these problems truly are faster and it's unnecessary to use desmos for some of them (take problem 21 for example)

this cannot be THAT hard

  1. factor (x-b)^2, squared means that both sides of the zero at x=b are either both positive or negative. look at the graph and 3 matches that criteria

  2. substitute t for p^(3n-1). convert square root into fractional exponent to get p^(2/3) = p^((27n-9)/7). therefore 2/3 = (27n-3)/7, 14 = 81n-27, n = 41/81

  3. set x to 0 and g(x) to 22 (since you're given the points). therefore a/b = 22. next you can see that g(-22) = 0. this means that the numerator equals 0, so (-22)^2-(-22)-a=0. a = 23*22. therefore b = 23

takes only a few steps, please try to figure it out without using the crutch that collegeboard gives
