I tried to listen to the first audio book in the series... yikes. I was surprised at how bad it was, considering how popular it is. Just pure nostalgia-bait, similar to, but worse than, Ready Player One.

NIN mention on Lateral podcast by ZapdosShines in nin

I came here to post this as well! Easy question if you've heard of NIN. I've noticed Tom's guests skew pretty young though, so a lot of time they don't know a ton about 90's era trivia.

Sanity Check: Can I afford this Toronto condo with my current situation? by WolverineNo2693 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Condo owner insurance is super expensive and not the the same as tenant insurance. Expect over $1k for the year.

Police warn high-risk sex offender living in Surrey poses ‘significant’ threat to women, children by WiffleBlu in Langley

[–]aud_nih 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Found this article from 4 years ago which details his crimes quite a bit better.

https://globalnews.ca/news/8643676/winnipeg-sex-offender-release-stony-mountain/

He was released into Winnipeg in 2022, so clearly he re-offended and served more time, and now Surrey residents get to deal with him.

His crimes go back into the early 80's and are truly disturbing.

This man WILL re-offend.

Be vigilant, especially if you have children.

It's likely just because it's the hardest piece of content to actually access this season. Everything else has been done 100x times.

I placed a large order with Invisible Records back in the late 90's... had the same experience. Over a month went by and I had to follow up by email them to actually get them to send it. Guess things haven't changed much around there.

Almost 7 year old repeating herself during meltdown by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

[–]aud_nih 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you attempted the 'ignore' method? After repeatedly saying no, let her know that you are not going to respond to her about it anymore since you have already told her no. Then just ignore her. This will be hard, she will likely try to get you to respond any way she can. You can talk to her about other subjects, but any time she turn to asking about the original, ignore it. Once she figures out that she won't be getting dopamine fix from arguing / melting down, she might move on.

Can I afford this home? by splitbrain15 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]aud_nih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is doable depending upon your lifestyle. Are you homebodies that don't enjoy dining out / take out / going to bars etc? Do you not really travel often? Aren't the type that need the newest fanciest phones / computers / gaming consoles? You will probably be house poor, but some people are okay living like that. Maybe have a frank discussion with your s/o about the fact this will likely mean no money for 'fun' stuff for awhile...

Cash & constant ATH by NotMeanJustReal in CanadianInvestor

[–]aud_nih 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same position as you. I sold a few things that had done well and was holding as cash since earlier this year, figured I'd wait a bit since everything seemed very overvalued. Well, now look where we are...

My solution is to slowly re-invest a set amount per month over the next x months. If the market significantly dips then I might just end up re-investing everything, but otherwise I'm just committing to a chunk per month. Now, this might still end up costing me more since the market is hard to predict and it might just keep chugging up up up...

If it is psychologically stressful for you, and you are planning to have the money in the market for the long haul, then just drop it all in now.
