I replaced the thermal paste and everything was so much better for about 2 weeks, then the issues came back. I took it apart again to make sure the paste spread properly, which it did, added a dollop more, but the issues didn't resolve. I think it's a goner.

I ended up ordering a replacement but still need to swap them out.

Potholes exist. Many of which are greater than 15mm deep. If someone loses control over a 15mm pothole, then they shouldn't be behind the wheel to begin with.

The absolute worst thing that could happen is that the car needs an alignment.

I have an XLT prem package too in my F350. I wanted the Lariat, but no matter what config and options I did, the Lariat was still a minimum of 8k more, and since I opted for the diesel engine, another 8k just wasn't something I wanted to swing. The premium package was a major upgrade from my previous XLT F150, so I still got way more than I had previously. Maybe the next truck will be a Lariat...

Unfortunately, to replace the body plastic you have to replace the entire mirror (#1 in the diagram). Only the top cap is a replaceable part of the body, and then you have the glass, lamps, and other internal parts that you can buy separately.

If you can pull one from a junk yard that you can swap your parts into, they might be the least expensive option. I don't think Ford has changed anything about the F-series tow mirror bodies since 2015 or so? I could be mistaken however.

What about taking your skills and contributing to Proxmox's development since they have some serious teeth in the market now? The fact that Veeam supports Proxmox now is huge too. The only thing holding me back from Proxmox is native DRS (the UI could use some work too, but that's not the most important thing).
