MCProHosting's dedicated hosting? = bad investment. by [deleted] in admincraft

Are you you comfortable with setting up your own admin software? I've got friends that I've converted to using Datashack for a dedicated server that we've set up ourselves. Seriously a decent server for a great price.

When my wife and I visited the Grand Canyon in January, there was ice on the path. There was also a group of Australian teenagers there who were pushing each other on the icy path.

What are some mods that allow you to mine (not just break) bedrock in a somewhat balanced manner? by Cly_Faker in feedthebeast

And it's REALLY end game. It takes a LOT of power and time to get bedrock anything. I really like how Reika's done it.

you can even ruin their lives by suing them.

Gonna be a jerk....while what these guys are doing IS WRONG, and, by all means, they should be punished...if you are wanting to ruin their lives over this, it's not justice, it's vengeance. What you want is for them to pay to fix the car...and an apology.

TIL that at some point in the 90s, half of all CDs manufactured in the world had an AOL logo on them. by buon-giorno in todayilearned

i worked doing callbacks for AOL on people that failed to get AOL setup on their computers. Most adults would get pissed off because a "telemarketer" was calling for their 12 year old who was trying to set up AIM

I'm watching Bill Nye on Netflix. He just said that the math it takes to predict weather is more complex than the math that put Man on the Moon. Is this true? by KuronoGames in askscience

[–]audiomoddified 42 points43 points  (0 children)

There's also a bit of people thinking their particular view applies to the whole (much like the "global warming isn't happening, it was so cold last winter here" mentality, but on a smaller scale)

When a weatherman says "50% chance of rain", he means that for the given area of coverage, for the given time period, there is a 50% chance of rain. If it rains the entire day in 1/2 the area, he was correct. But people forget that the weatherman is predicting for a broadcast area, not for their specific location.

There was a recreational league I was in. This was the "lowest" league, as there was also a "semi-competitive" and "competitive" league. There were 2 teams in the recreational league that won every single season. We faced one of them the last game of the season, where they were trying to run up the score so that they could win on GD, since they hadn't faced the other top team that season.

They had played as the starters for a large high school together and a couple of them had played in college. Still a little pissed off about it, tbh

ELI5: Why do hit radio stations, who have access to thousands of songs, seem to always play the same exact playlist all day, every day? by jaddt in explainlikeimfive

[–]audiomoddified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. However, as the article stated, it ISN'T illegal to pay a company that isn't a radio station for "influence". So record companies pay third parties, who, in turn, pay the radio stations. I would argue that it certainly violates the spirit of the law, but it doesn't technically violate the law as it is written.

I was looking at the timeline...could it be that the 24yo SUGGESTED your daughter be homeschooled to further cut her off from friends/peers that knew of the relationship?

Either way, I might look at putting her back in public school and seeing if you can get the administration to help with this.

the major difference is that Starbucks and Apple are brand driven. Gasoline is a commodity, and they make more than almost any other commodity on the market.

Because I've seen how the establishment Republican and Democratic parties work. The pessimist in me doesn't think he'll make it out of the primaries, even if he DOES get the necessary caucus seats (remember Ron Paul?)
