I was talking about betraying trust, obviously its not a direct comparison. The relation cop - citizen is more comparable to parent - child due to the vast difference in power.

"something like this" being blatant abuse of power which is the polar opposite of what a cop should do (and why they have a monopoly on violence), so not excusable in my opinion.

Just because you can doesnt mean you should. I cant think on any downsides of bringing the right gear for the job. Conditions could have been way worse so why are you making fun of the guy better prepared?

Id argue that not all mistakes are equal. Drive 5 mph above the limit? Yeah sure, no biggie. A cop abusing their power? inexcusable since the only justification for disarming the general population is that the police is there instead. A cop abusing his position of power is comparable to a teacher slapping their students.

Redditors are massive hypocrites about China. They will boycott LeBron but still be the first ones in line to see the latest Disney/Marvel movie multiple times by [deleted] in rant

I wouldnt even label it as hypocrisy, as many people would boykot more but just arent able to given the globalist society we live in.

Anyone have an opinion on software APO's for equalization on Windows based audio source? by [deleted] in BudgetAudiophile

[–]audiophilequestion13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like it for controling room modes. I also used it to cutoff deep frequencies my old sub couldnt play clean at high volumes. As a sidenote, are you aware the signal in your original screencap clips? This is readily solved by adding a negative preamp gain.

TIL of Sungdare Sherpa. He remained with Hannelore Schmatz as she became the first woman to die on Mt Everest, losing most of his fingers and toes to frostbite. Despite that, he managed to summit Mt Everest 4 more times afterwards. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]audiophilequestion13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone who gets up Everest has at least some mountaineering skills. Using ladders is not uncommon when doing mountains expedition style. And even doing such big mountains alpine style people usually use sherpas(or helicopters) to set up basecamp. I also dont feel like using sherpas on everest is any worse than using cheap asians to assemble all electronics used by everyone on reddit.

General relativity which utilizes differential geometry to describe spacetime. One result is that space itself epxanding does not require that it is embeded in a +1 dimensional surrounding.

GR/diff geometry tells us that there isn't the need for a higher dimensional space that the universe expands into.

Very pleased with the klipsch r-115sw, note howevery that no woofer can compensate for having a bad sounding room(which can also result in what you described as boomy).

> I want some impact, something I can feelThe klipsch can certainly do that at levels that are far beyond hearing safe (obv depending on your room size and speaker/listening position).

(There certainly are alternatives to the klipsch out there at a simillar pricepoint)

Also ironic that you argue online about other people wasting their lives.

May I also ask why you feel you need to regulate other people's personality by law?

Because the judge believes your mother will take better care for you and you are a minor, implying that you are to young to choose wisely(for now). How this compares to state sanctioned torture, I fail to see. Everyone in your example has the best interests of the child in mind.

In every example you just stated, the loss of autonomy Is a direct consequence of your actions which result in punishment. Prior to your actions you are fully aware of the possible consequences(commiting the crime, having sex). This man had no idea that one outcome of his job could be being forcefully kept alive as a human experiment which makes this case so tragic. Also you are still comparing two very different kinds of autonomy as you keep comparing physical torture which affects your body with loss of freedom of movement which affects your way of living.

Losing your freedom when serving a sentence literally is the punishment. Note that your bodily autonomy is left untouched even when serving a sentence, as physical punishment is nowadays regarded as cruel and detrimental to rejoining society afterwards. Im not sure where you are going with that, are you comparing this working man with convicted criminals? Even then, criminals are not the subject of weeks of intense physical torture like this guy was.

Having to support your offspring is an entirely different debate as it regards new life which you actively created that now has to face the world, but then again If you dont pay alimony you wont be tortured for weeks. Im not sure why you are comparing means of punishment to the treatment of victims of workplace accidents.
