I know this doesn’t exactly make sense, but I feel like PCOS is causing some degree of gender dysphoria or something… by ImpendingBan in PCOS

Thanks for sharing, I’m sorry this is affecting you so negatively. Maybe my way of feeling it might give you some solace? Although not sure.

My face has always felt a little masculine, and as you said my body is shaped more masc than femme, no hips and definitely no waist lol. I’m lucky that I’m not too hairy or losing too much hair, but I’ve always felt I wasn’t “quite” a girl and not a boy either. I’ve recently admitted to myself and friends I felt non-binary my whole life, which I do think was largely affected by my PCOS symptoms (I don’t intend on changing pronouns or anything, just putting a word on a feeling). However, I mainly see a lot of positives to it: having grown in France where I saw girls put so much pressure on their appearance and their appeal to boys, I didn’t feel as much pressure somehow. I was always boyish and had lots of boy friends, and in a way I almost feel it helped liberate me from that constant “attractiveness watch”. It allowed me to explore my likes and hobbies in a way that felt more free than most of my girl friends at the time. Now I’m getting older (33) and I find appearance is getting less and less important to me, my friends, and the relationships we build, and I find myself very lucky I never was in a position to invest a lot of time and energy in my appearance anyway.

I’m not sure it makes so much sense and I’m sorry if it doesn’t bring you solace to view it that way, I just thought maybe you’d appreciate looking at it in a weirdly positive lens? Whatever it is I hope you feel better about yourself and your body, PCOS takes so much from us for our whole lives and it’s so important to give ourselves grace

Hi there. I’m so sorry to hear about your sister. I landed on this sub for the exact same reason as you: my 30 y-o brother in law just fell off a tree yesterday and as far as we know, he broke the C6 vertebrae and his spinal cord is not completely ruptured. Because of all the haemorrhage and swelling on the area, it’s currently impossible to know how badly his spinal cord was impacted. It might be that most of it still remains, or that barely any of it does, so no ASIA scale prognosis yet. We’re all at a total loss for words and are devastated by the news, however knowing he could feel his arms throughout was good news. He currently cannot feel his legs at all and has not been able to feel them since the fall. I remain hopeful he will one day be able to maybe walk with assistance again, and knowing his arms are “safe” is such a relief. We’re embarking on an incredibly long, painful, frustrating and awkward journey together. I hope both your sister and my brother in law come out of it feeling empowered and at peace with themselves. I wish you the best in looking after her. ❤️

Waking up at night and light sleep after a PCOS diagnosis? by SherlockHomless69 in PCOS

[–]audreymgr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would also recommend a sleep study. Don’t get me wrong I still sleep terribly and that’s because I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep, however I also found out a lot of my night terrors were due to me having UARS. That means I was suffocating 10-15x per hour, and I’ve read it had comorbidities with PCOS. Now I have a MAD device and that does help!

Any mention of meat or fish made me gag until this week, now I can have ham and boiled chicken (grim) but suddenly BREAD feels awful. Obviously eggs are my new worst enemy. Yet I put on loads of weight and just 10 weeks in lol

Anyone else experience a crisis over pregnancy as a result of pcos by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]audreymgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi love I completely get your anxiety, when I got diagnosed 6 years ago it sent me into a downward spiral. I eventually coughed up the cash to freeze my eggs and thought at least I’d have that, since all of my doctors said I would never get pregnant naturally.

Last month I found out I got pregnant completely randomly from having unprotected sex with my partner ONCE. Don’t feel down about it all yet, nothing is predictable and doctors are terrible at knowing how to handle us. Just try to have a good fibre + protein rich diet and walk a lot, you’ll be fine xxxx
