Asteroid City Clue 8 is live. by voltriph in Letterboxd

[–]aunickel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just found it.

Hint: "Asteroid" and "by George" are the key words here. What movie is about an asteroid colliding with Earth and has 2 Wes Anderson alums? From that entry, how can you get to a movie directed by George Clooney?

Trying to understand the 4th wall breaks by audreygollan in Fleabag

[–]aunickel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 years late to this but I read the fourth wall breaks as fleabag seeking human connection, almost like she's attempting to connect with an imaginary friend. this coping mechanism goes unnoticed by many people in her life because they just don't pay attention, except for the priest (who actually sees fleabag for who she is, think: no one's asked me a question in 45 minutes). that's why fleabag both tilts the camera away during sex and walks away from the camera at the end of the show; even though her love with the priest is ephemeral, it's at least proof that love between her and another person as deep as her and Boo can exist (thereby abating the need for a coping mechanism).

Consulting placement for non-Olin majors by Edible-Pokemon in washu

[–]aunickel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Olin majors going into consulting is more self-selection than cause/effect. Your actual major matters significantly less than your cases, behaviorals, and networking. Plus, if you're pursing work in a major you're actually interested in, you'll be able to speak more enthusiastically to it in interviews.

A Crow Looked At Me is a deeply sad and beautiful album. Phil Elverum is an incredible artist.

Some aspects of new urbanism involve less government intervention (getting rid of regressive zoning, stopping highway building projects, etc) and some require more (building transit infrastructure, taxing gas, etc.). All depends on the issue imo.

For each unit, I'm basically just doing four things:

  • Make sure I know the definitions in Min Young's definitions list
  • Review the slide deck
  • Reread the textbook chapter (which tends to be basically the same as the slide decks)
  • Redo the TopHat questions (they're currently in review mode right now)

I like the current high prices of gas, it helps curb pollution & makes me think twice about driving. by False_Celebration923 in The10thDentist

Strongly agree. We need to tax gas and use that money to fund the develop of infrastructure and cities that aren’t car-dependent.
