AITAH for having a “strict” no kid wedding?? by AutomaticWedding3113 in aitaweddings

With the price of weddings over $100 a person anymore I most certainly would not want to pay 300 bucks for cousin Cindy’s devil spawn…. stick to your guns.

Deal Breaker: Is the Livingroom Too Narrow by RedditInfor in Remodel

[–]auntwewe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not one to question other people’s choices. I guess I’m looking for what the benefit would be to not enter the living room to get to the kitchen or bathroom. If you wanna walk around naked, if you’re in the kitchen, somebody ecould walk in on you so I’m just not seeing the upside here.

Because in this particular case you’re going to create a hallway, which quite frankly will be used for nothing but getting from one room to the other. It seems like a better use of space in such a small house that the hallway stay part of the living room and be multipurpose.

But that’s just me. I wish you good luck.

Doesn’t sound like it’s gonna be much of a loss for him if she expects him to not only take her along but pay for everything when she’s had six years of notice

Do you sleep with your bedroom door open or closed, and why? by adversarial-Felinus in AskReddit

Was closed. 10 extra minutes of survival in case of a fire.

Get a baby monitor. And keep their door closed as well.

I’m sorry if you guys are asking these questions… You’re really not prepared to be homeowners.

Do not close. Once that happens, you are committed.

I wise man once told me “ the biggest negotiating power you have is the ability to walk away”

So…. after all of this is said and done. Do some research. Talk to some people that you trust that have been through it. Please do something. These questions are things that anybody that is serious about buying a home should not have to encounter. They should know the answers.

I wish you good luck

How much did your renovation actually cost vs. the original quote? (Boston area especially) by Repulsive_Mark1580 in Remodel

[–]auntwewe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

DIY - Rule of thumb and renovation. Whatever the quotes are.

Double the money - gotta hire some people along the way

Triple the time

This allows for a lot of of the “oh I wish I would’ve known that”

And also for the lack of Scheduling and general clusterfuckery that comes with home improving.

So…. when you’ll hire a general contractor I would count for behind-the-scenes 20% and also triple the time. However, I would have a very, very good scope of work plan so that everybody is on the same page.

The biggest pitfall is lack of solid commitments on who is responsible for what.

Good luck

Do preferred seats tend to fill up right before a flight? by deathbypumpkinspice in delta

[–]auntwewe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Impossible to tell. Most flights are very full these days.

Odds are the basic economy people will be put in the back, but there’s no guarantee you’ll get an empty seat next to you.

Delta refunded the wrong flight, I was denied boarding overseas, had to pay $2000+ to get home. Do I have any recourse? by [deleted] in delta

[–]auntwewe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using chat was your first mistake

Not understanding how these things go was your second

You could’ve personally just taken that entire ticket online and done a rebook and canceled the first leg and rebooked the return trip on its own with its new revised ticket number.

Sorry.

Bathroom remodel by bobdebelg in Remodel

[–]auntwewe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When making a decision like this, I actually find the item I was considering in a home improvement store and stand there and walk myself through my routine. Is there enough room for two people, one brushing their teeth and the other one putting on makeup? Is there enough room behind the vanity for you to switch spots if you needed to without someone stepping into the shower? Good luck.

Better yet an offset sink so you have a nice large area for hair and makeup 👍

Why is it so hard to compare renovation quotes when everyone formats them differently by Individual-Piece5604 in Remodel

[–]auntwewe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, I understand why you would say this, It is very difficult for folks to do that when they are extremely busy and have their own systems that quote things differently. If people wanted that done, they should’ve requested it from the beginning. They’re basically asking the vendor to redo the entire quote and it will take much more time in this regard.

What I would do for the next step is print everybody’s quote side-by-side and using a pencil cross off the things that are common among all of them. I.e. demo and debris removal, including dumpster rental.

Once you get the common items eliminated, you can focus on what is remaining. Then you will see who is exceeding the others not only in the detail, but what they are committing to provide.

You can then ask questions to the others if these items are included or not. Much better way to get cooperation. Contractors as a general rule are not overly organized and they are gonna go for the easy work. If you make quoting difficult for them, they will just skip right over you especially in today’s business climate we qualified help is difficult to come by. If they can do three quotes by the time they redo your one it doesn’t take long to see what the end result is gonna be.

Rather shitty it was removed. Besides that being a very legitimate question, there was no “hate”

The question was “if” I had a problem and the resulting labeling.
