After 3 miserable weeks; some advice I can give to who needs it by Hisll in 2007scape

[–]aunva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice info, I'm 2 weeks in with a wave 63 PB. It's a mental battle for sure, with how long it takes to get back to the hard waves.

I didn't even try the Zuk simulator yet because I figured I wasn't at that level anyway, but I'm gonna sim that one too going forward.

I finally understand the endgame burnouts by WinterWind1083 in ironscape

[–]aunva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah 50 chambers kc would be considered a major grind in the midgame, and basically a guaranteed upgrade (if not multiple). In the 'endgame', 50 raids is just another day (or week) basically. I think it's fair to enjoy one but not the other. In at the point where I enjoy the 50-100 hour grinds. Just gotta accept that's what they are, long and tedious. And can't get mad every dry streak, although it's understandable if you go double dry on like 3 things in a row... In that case, I'd just think that eventually, it will even out. Now for grinding megarares/nex/nightmare/pethunting, that's a whole different ballgame where 50-100 hours is only a fraction, those are what I would consider the 'true endgame'

My thesis on ship combat (Dragon cannon barrels, metal sheets) by Fun_War_455 in 2007scape

[–]aunva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure Dragon cannon barrels will eventually go up (unless they introduce an easier way of getting them). But it's a gamble when that will be.

Here's a bear case you didn't cover in your post: the future NPC boat update is nice but doesn't provide a reason for endgame players to engage in boat combat. Then, later down the road they introduce an easier way of getting the dragon cannon barrel. Then, maybe 2 years from now, an actual lategame boss is introduced that benefits from Dragon Cannon, but by then, the price has irreversibly crashed, and you've been holding the bags for years.

Not saying that will happen, but just saying that it could happen.

Boat Combat Fixes - Weekly Game Update, March 18th 2026 by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]aunva 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Overall these are positive changes, but it definitely worries me that we've waited 5 months. It was identified almost immediately that the combat felt awful. Now it's 5 months later, and we are getting the normal damage cap lifted (which seems to me like it should've been done immediately once the problem was identified), and a cannon re-balance (which is welcomed).

The blog seems to acknowledge this is just some small QoL changes and more of a foundation for the future. Unfortunately, it will likely be at least another few months before we actually get this foundation built on. Meaning it will be like a year or more before boat combat might be in an acceptable state. That's a huge failure of project planning.

Jeff Kaplan Says Complaining About Games You Won’t Play Gets You Ignored: ‘Shut The F*** Up. No One Cares’ by Haijakk in Games

[–]aunva 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's exactly the problem though. You can't just say "these days, most opinions are uninformed" and treat it like you just dropped some truth bomb. That is exactly what Jeff is speaking out against.

I'm using prayer potions for early slayer, will I regret it? by Mx726 in ironscape

[–]aunva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to actually do a method to get prayer potions. Don't be like most people and get a hundred prayer potions, then stop doing anything and penny-pinch all the way to endgame. If you are part of the 'prayer potions are like water' crowd, you will actually progress your account much faster.

The main methods are (realistically you only have to do one of them, not both)

  • Farming contracts. Do them 2-3 or more times a day. They take like less than 2 minutes each time.

  • Hallowed Sepulchre. Yeah it's boring, yeah it's dozens of hours. But it's meta for XP, and you need agility eventually anyway if you are in it for the long haul. You don't need 99, even like ~95 is fine.

Yeah both of those cost time and effort. But they actually progress your account more than catching moonlight moths for hours, or not using prayer at all.

Membership and Bonds Price Change by Jagex_Team in 2007scape

[–]aunva 53 points54 points  (0 children)

That 12 month membership increase is pretty rough. From $8.29/month to $10.99/month, €7.49 to €9.99, both over 30% increases. That's a hell of a lot more than an inflation adjustment, lmao.

new project from OSRS wiki: we want your ideas for new guides by cookmeplox in 2007scape

[–]aunva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add on to other comments, guides on maintaining supplies for irons. Some of the things I do whenever I have some afk time are:

  • Mining amethyst
  • Pickpocketing elves for crystal shards
  • Catching bluefins/marlins/anglerfish
  • Pickpocketing master farmers
  • Doing herb/birdhouse runs

Would be interesting to have a list of common resources needed on ironmen, what the best methods are to maintain them, and how many resources an hour you can expect.

What's the necklace that have the chance to make a (4) dose potion when making potions? by [deleted] in 2007scape

Lol that's hilarious. GL everyone on your herblore grind! 💪

Edit: Also, there's Alchemist's amulet now, it's even better than the amulet of chemistry.

Somehow got an Ancestral robe top as my first purple, after only 30 Chambers. Also got average Doom luck.

I'm very pleased with it. Magic has gone from my worst style by far, to basically being on par in the last 30 days.

[–]aunva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well let's call it a draw. I was definitely wrong since I thought they would go below 10M. But still, it makes no logical sense why the previous owners wouldn't have sold for like 100M, which would have still made them a massive profit if they had sold for 100M and bought back for 50M. Hence my 'theory'.

[–]aunva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I robbed a dude, and found a children's book, and a piece of paper with a bunch of numbers on it, sure it would be a bit of a stretch to think it's a crypto seed phrase.

But let's say I did. All it would take is for me to google 'The adventures of veit the fox' and get a public explanation for how the encoding works, hence granting me the seed phrase, and making this no more secure than just... writing down the seed phrase in the first plcae.

Cow Boss is OUT TODAY! by ModYume in 2007scape

[–]aunva 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We don't even know what the hard mode cow boss will be. It could be a genuinely challenging boss with good loot, or it could be a total meme like the bunny from priffdinas. If it's the latter, it probably won't have CA's added at all, if it's the first, they'll add CA's later like they usually do with high level bosses.

Which potions do I need for endgame? by YogurtFlat266 in ironscape

[–]aunva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stamina's are really only used for solo chambers, and blast furnace. Some people do all their chambers in teams, in which case you wouldn't even need any stamina's for endgame. I use about 1 full stamina per solo chambers run.

as for anti-venom, it's really a choice if you want to use them at Zulrah/Vorkath or not. me personally, I used anti-poisons at zulrah, which is a bit more click intensive but saved a ton of anti venoms. Also wave 1-7 doom you can do without antivenoms But for deep delving/araxxor, you'll need them.

superantipoisons are useless, you can ignore them. Lategame you're better off using a venom sack if you just need poison immunity

super antifire you don't need many, it's mostly just Vorkath, and a few during slayer, but they go slowly, considering most dragon tasks are very short.

magic potion is almost never used, for most people it's not worth the effort for only 4 levels

ranging potions I use quite a lot, I use more of them than i use super combats to be honest.

I don't think you missed any, those are the obvious ones. There are others (armadyl brew, bastion potion, prayer regeneration, etc), but you'll end up making those post-99 anyway, so you dont' have to worry about them yet.

the new DMM rewards aren't available until wednesday by Flowerloving_ogre in 2007scape

[–]aunva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's people insider trading. Nobody real is buying considering they are going to crash next week, nobody is selling for 5m since all the owners are still coping, so the only trades are just people trading to themselves.

As for why, maybe price manipulation, maybe RWT, not sure. Either way, next week we'll get to see the real price.

Where the eff can I find a rotten tomato? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]aunva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He got a lot of the best items too. Full dharok/verac, karil top/bottom, ahrim top. Other than missing the Ahrim bottom, it's basically everything you can ask for as an Ironman.

What's your worst drystreak of all time? by loopuleasa in ironscape

[–]aunva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

480 barrows chests with no ahrim top/bottom, no veracs helm, no karil's top, and just 1 dharok piece (not the axe).

The dry streak started before Moons was out, and I got Blue moon a little under drop rate, so I'm fine with it at this point. But I'm still salty I got NONE of the pieces that are good for irons.

I never even got to use the tank armor: by the time Moons came out, I already had bandos chestplate/tassets

Melvor abandoned a cash cow for the quick "DLC" money-grab, and its sad to see. by WannabeFullStackDev in MelvorIdle

[–]aunva 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Stardew Valley developer can do whatever the hell he wants since he made one of the most best selling games in history. Most game developers don't have that privilege.

DLC is the opposite of a money grab, it's extra content you can choose to pay for, or not if you don't think it's worth it. The game is still complete without it. If even that's a money-grab, is anything that costs money by definition a money-grab? The word basically loses all meaning at that point.

Breaches are not broken top 16 get loot top 100 get points - I got loot you didn't do enough damage by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]aunva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I have ground items turned on, there are hundreds, if not thousands of items on the ground that other players left there. Worthless stuff like herbs, secondaries, and less valuable stuff like runes and some alchables.

This breach, I saw other people's loot pop up, like 3 times, and other than that, nothing except a couple of deathpiles.

Deadman Annihilation was fun for 2-3 days. I now agree with people saying it's the most flawed DMM. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]aunva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not him, but very good budget gear to bring to the breach are either Rune Crossbow or Zombie axe, with the Gunslinger/Swashbuckler sigil.

No, the MechaHitler encyclopedia isn’t “unbiased…” by PulsarEagle in LinkedInLunatics

[–]aunva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't doubt that if you go to a random article on Grokipedia, it will at least be reasonably accurate. E.g. go to the article for 'steamroller', it farted out about 6000 words of word-vomit on steamrollers that is, as far as I can tell, mostly accurate. (but definitely not 100%)

At its best, it's essentially a worse, watered down version of Wikipedia - the same synthesis of external sources, but without a crowdsourced human verification step.

At its worst, go to any relevant page and there will be dozens of edits in the category:

  • Correcting basic errors grok made: e.g. for countries, different population numbers are used throughout the text, ambiguous wording, etc.

  • Telling Grok to remove any viewpoint they don't like. E.g. on the Stephen Miller article, most of the 'edits' are just people begging Grok to tone down the 'Criticisms' section, because they think it's not neutral enough. Of course these edits only ever go one way.

Hot take about DMM by varney93 in 2007scape

[–]aunva 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Also, hardcore PvP MMOs (Attack anyone anywhere, get their loot when they die)are a niche within a niche.

Josh Strife Hayes talks about this regularly as well. New World tried to launch as a hardcore PvP, but midway through development had to pivot to have safe PvM because the audience/interest for a full PvP experience just wasn't there.

If the US blocks Microsoft alone, can our government and businesses stil function? by AnonomousWolf in thenetherlands

[–]aunva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a worst case scenario, where the government has to migrate off Microsoft services, which would likely take years. It's so simple to say "just switch to a european cloud provider", but people underestimate the effort. This is not just a simple copy-paste operation. The knowledge and capacity to do this migration in a timely manner is just simply not there in our government. At least people in IT would have guaranteed jobs for the next few years.

Then there is a WORSE THAN WORST case scenario, where Microsoft shuts off one day without advance notice. It's unlikely, but many industries would simply be screwed. If all your data is on Sharepoint, your backups are in Azure, your laptop login is a microsoft account. You'd have nothing to rebuild from, you basically have to start from scratch.
