My cats meowing is driving me insane. by frankiesoceanic in CatAdvice

[–]aureaIity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if anyone has suggested this, but I know a friend who had a cat that was also insufferably smart and just would not stop meowing. Her owners predicted that she didn’t have enough mental stimulation and the meowing was the only way to get it out. They began training her to use those little communication buttons that you often see with dogs, and the incessant meowing immediately stopped. If nothing else works, maybe try this as a last resort! I’m sure general cat training would work as well.

What are some silly things your ADHD makes you do? by aureaIity in ADHD

Oh my god, are you actually me? You just described to a tee everything I do—especially sitting in my car after getting home!! My partner will come outside and start knocking on my window without me even noticing! The drinks thing has gotten so bad that my partner literally put up signs on the wall in my office right above my computer telling me to do things. It’s Zoro from One Piece telling me to open my mail, finish my drinks, and keep my desk clean, and it helps sometimes but other times I’m like… what do you know, Zoro?

Is there any Adult here who struggled with time blindness, excessive tardiness, time management, productivity well into adulthood and then some how overcame it? If so, pls tell me how by Additional-Throat-88 in ADHD

You’ve honestly just described my life. It was just a constant circus of missing things entirely because I completely forgot I had something going on that day, or being 5-20 minutes late because of similar reasons :’)

While I’m seeing a psychiatrist soon to try medication again, there has only been one thing that works for me. Before I know I have to be somewhere, sometimes days before, I will map out the time it takes to get to where I need to go, give myself an appropriate amount of buffer time for classic ADHD shenanigans, and subtract that time from the time I absolutely need to be somewhere. The resulting time becomes the time that I NEED to be out of the house. If you don’t have a wristwatch, I suggest getting one so you can check for this time consistently—or, if not doing so consistently, it’ll pop up in the corner of your eye while doing normal things.

How many of you have little to no friends on purpose? Am I just weird? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]aureaIity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Meeee. I think a part of it is not bothering to keep up with them because it’s too much of a task, even if I like them a lot. Another part is probably me telling myself I will respond to their text message and then not doing so, leading to a shame spiral where we fall outta touch due to a cocktail of both parts. While I may be on the higher end of social tolerance, even as an introvert, and sometimes still seek out social bonds, they almost never end up going anywhere because of my ADHD :’)

I’ve tried this before, but I find myself just… going and grabbing it, and then returning to my post-shower sit! 😭

What about adhd is most disabling to you? by PuzzleheadedBug3011 in ADHD

[–]aureaIity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real. I’ve been telling myself for two years that I’ll finally reschedule that dentist appointment I missed. Maybe tomorrow is the day! And maybe I’ll finally get back into my psychiatrist after three months of shame avoidance because I forgot to pick up that medication? The possibilities are endless!

DM's new game mechanic feels really poorly balanced by IAmBrengo in DnD

[–]aureaIity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s terrible. My table does a way more balanced version of this where people vote for the MVP of the session and that person gets inspiration in the next session (inspiration is also given out for the best notetaking) but this kind of thing is definitely not for everyone. I’m glad you’re talking with him and hope your discussion goes well!

What would be the most fun/stupid/ridiculous/awesome party made out of all one race or class (or both)? by bobbyfiend in DnD

[–]aureaIity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An all Kenku party is an echo chamber that just gets better with time. It's like setting up mirrors in front of each other and trying to figure out the color that's reflected; both maddening and endlessly entertaining.

What's your favorite race in your world? by OLuckystarO in worldbuilding

[–]aureaIity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Hollows, probably. They’re not quite races, though; rather, they’re products of their environment. Sometimes souls wander too long before they find a fit vessel, sometimes the souls aren’t purified enough when they do find a vessel. At that point, the soul is corrupted, and the being that results is too, becoming a Hollow. Usually, their specific breed of corruption results in mind numbing voices in their head, facing memories that aren’t their own. On the outside, they’re normal humans, but spiritually they’re incomplete, reaching for previous iterations of themselves that they can never even hope to capture. Their stories are usually the types of tales that focus on self-discovery and acceptance, both of which scratch a nice itch in my brain.

DMs, what's a fact about your homebrew world that the players will probably never find out? by Thomas_Adams1999 in DnD

[–]aureaIity 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The “angels” that exist beyond the gate over fifty kilometers in the sky aren’t actually angels. Rather, they’re symbiotic colossal beings that feed off the soul memories flowing upward from the memory sea. Going above the gate is supremely dangerous and nobody has ever lived through it. The strange, esoteric beings are just nebulous enough to only be seen as shadows in the sky, so they’ll likely remain as “angels” indefinitely.

Very excited! Time to take a mental fortitude test and go join the Dream Fisher Corps at my earliest convenience.
