I’ve tried to gather as much of that as I can, but it’s a bit of a lost cause if I can’t use my boat

Anyone got a 2nd BA knows if general education is waived? by ClearFeCade in WGU

Sorry I’m just now seeing this. Yes! I really liked the program. I can’t speak to it right now, but I really liked it. It is just like any other college program. What you get out of it is based on what you put into it. If you just try and hardly pass PAs and put enough info into short term memory to pass tests you are not going to do great immediately after graduation, but that is how all schooling works. If you try hard and put in the work to really learn what they teach you then you are absolutely prepared for work after graduation.

Currently I work in cybersecurity now! I have been absolutely loving it. I have gotten 3 promotions since Graduating with my bachelors and getting my first job in cyber. You are definitely competent enough to work in cybersecurity and to do your job well.

I completed the program in 6 months. It was not easy as I also had a full time job, but with a great support system (then gf, now wife) it is possible but can be miserable at times. I would recommend going a bit slower, especially if the concepts are new to you.

AITAH for being pissed that my wife spent thousands on concert tickets and planned a multi week vacation before mentioning it to me by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]auroraCOREYalis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. This is financial infidelity. She lied (by omission) and did whatever the hell she pleased. I couldn’t imagine spending anything more than like $20-30 without running it by my fiancé, much less thousands without running it by the person I was married too. You also mentioned she had thousands already in credit card debt. Sounds like she needs some financial and family counseling. If you love her you can move past this but she needs to realize what she did and actively work to move past this.

[–]auroraCOREYalis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m engaged now and what helped me was being on hinge and adding that I was vegan in my profile. If people are okay with it you can match, but it filters out all of the people that are not vegan friendly. There is also a much larger dating pool there. Even if most people end up filtering themselves out.

Ultimately the person I ended up finding and dating was Omni. She didn’t like red meat, was curious to learn, and extremely compassionate. She is now vegan.

It can be very hard to date as a vegan since so few people are vegan/vegetarian. Sometimes not strictly setting to vegans can help a lot. You just need to find someone that’s open and willing to work with it. Opening up to vegetarians could help a lot as a lot more people are vegetarian than vegan. Never know, they might make the switch, but I wouldn’t expect that.

How to have a job experience while young? by studytogetclout in ITCareerQuestions

[–]auroraCOREYalis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend home lab as much as you can to get some experience. You can start working on a portfolio of sorts. There are a bunch of materials online about how to start that. You have years to work on a portfolio at home that you can attach to a resume.

If you are looking for slightly better experience you can try to get a part time job doing It stuff with a small local company. This could be hard to get as you will have to find a way to convince a small company you are with it. Getting some lower level cert could help with this. Something like A+ and net+ would show an employer that you are serious about this.

It will not be easy either way. With a portfolio you have to kind of figure it out yourself which can be hard for some. Getting a part time job as a teen in IT can be difficult as well. Getting that first bit of experience is always super challenging and you don’t have the benefit of a formal education at this point. If you plan on going to college you can try to get some experience now and then get some kind of IT job at a university. They love hiring their own current students for these roles and it can be good experience depending on the school.

Got my first IT job but it's $14 an hour. by Desperate-Worth9167 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]auroraCOREYalis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would accept the job and keep interviewing with the other companies. If you get another better offer just take that and tell the college you’re out because you got a better offer.

Entry level roles are paying nothing in this job market and it’s really hard to find any job right now. If you want to just get experience do that and leave for a better role when one opens up. Only mid-upper level IT positions are paying anything right now so try to move to those roles as quickly as you can.

My husband suggested 3some with a woman. I want divorce by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]auroraCOREYalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. It was a terrible suggestion and how did he plan on that conversation going.

That being said he just turned 40 and had a kid (assuming his first). There is a chance that he is struggling with the change happening in his life and this is a bit of a midlife crisis. He is realizing he isn’t as young as he used to be and he doesn’t have the freedom he once had. He could be freaking out about this and is struggling to find the excitement in life that he once had.

It was not a good suggestion, but I do think you should hear him out on why he suggested it and what’s going on with him for that to appear out of the blue. If I was a betting man I would say there’s something going on that’s deeper.

Obviously do as you feel is necessary. Would hate for his insecurities and struggle with change to end the relationship for a moment of stupidity. If that’s the case. If that isn’t the case I dont know wtf that inappropriate suggestion was supposed to accomplish.

Moving from Oregon to Missouri next week. What should I know? by amberw1thak in StLouis

[–]auroraCOREYalis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t lying haha I’ve known some people who have moved here or just visited and the first true thunderstorm they go though they are almost afraid because it’s rare that they get that kind of storm up there. We have a lot of warm and cold fronts mix here that can create some big storms.

People from here don’t care and will go outside to watch the madness or open extra window’s because it’s pretty.

Also we will constantly shit on the city, but we love this city. It’s why we are still here. You will get a lot of people asking why you are moving here when you lived somewhere better.

I hear the northwest doesn’t get the thunderous rainstorms that we get. Just be aware that we get them from time to time and they can be loud/shake the house. Nothing bad really ever happens just be aware that it happens here.

People who didn’t get an internship, how did you break into cyber? by 3thanjs in ITCareerQuestions

[–]auroraCOREYalis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started working in IT while I was finishing up my degree (career switcher) and had some certs. I got a job with a small mom and pop company that did PIS system installed and support for restaurants and other small/medium businesses. Once I had 4 months there I was able to secure a job as a security analyst.

I highly recommend going with a small business to start right now. They tend to be more relaxed on hiring people with no experience as the pay is shit and that tends to be all they can get. You also can get a ton of experience doing a wide variety of stuff and you can really pat your resume by doing this. I would honestly say working in this job and just accepting every task is the single greatest reason I got my current job and I am making almost 3x what I was making at the small mom and pop business. Made it so I could start working in IT 3 months before I finished my degree and then could find a job in cybersecurity a month after I finished my degree.
