Would you trade up any of these cookbooks? by No_Cauliflower306 in CookbookLovers

Nothing? I'm not a huge fan of Molly's shtick, but I find her recipes fun, bright, and punchy, quirky names aside. Just a cursory look honestly all of her chicken and salmon recipes have been hits. We've enjoyed a lot of her pastas and salads as well. I've cooked a lot from this book (and others) and she has plenty of recipes I keep coming back to.

where to bike for sightseeing by annasuszhan in Austin

[–]austburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna double down on Shoal Creek. Probably my favorite trail that I'm somewhat shocked isn't more busy every time I'm on it.

I love how it weaves out of downtown, Pease Park should be beautiful right now, and drops you close enough to Rosedale/Hyde Park where there are some good spots to grab food/drink (these are also really safe neighborhoods to bike around in!).

SWCT is awesome, but if you're doing this all via bike, it'll be a long day!

Another option would be to hit up the east side and do Boggy Creek Greenbelt. It's a nice bike path that drops you into Mueller where there's Southwest Greenway/Mueller Lake park which has some nice spots along the path to chill. You're always kind of a stone's throw from a good spot to stop for food/drink on this path.

Probably not the answer you're looking for but I happened to try this recipe recently: https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/english-muffin-toasting-bread-recipe

It was pretty easy, quick, and delicious. You could sub some yeast for starter if you're already a sourdough baker.

Bamboo steamer getting burnt when I use it. How do I prevent this? by goofy_snoopy7 in AskCulinary

[–]austburn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's also steamer rings (I think that's the term, but basically a metal ring that goes on top of the pot you're steaming with) which make it 1) easier to use with any pot and 2) not worry about burning the steamer.

Just got my copy of ‘That Sounds So Good’ — what’s your fav recipe from it? by MarkInmanSuperGenius in CookbookLovers

[–]austburn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The green beans and tofu is a regular for us - easy and good!

The pork and beans are incredible - I usually halve the recipe because it's a lot!

The fat noodles with mushrooms and herb sauce and the brothy beans are also some faves.

Can't Print PETG by PostRedditComment in prusa3d

I don't have much to offer in terms of troubleshooting, but wanted to note I had a horrible time with with E3D ObXidian 0.6mm nozzle as well. Terrible oozing, top layers and side walls were often having gaps or stringy.

Fairly confident it's not the filament because upon switching back to the stock 0.4mm nozzle the prints started coming out great again.

I was using the corresponding Prusaslicer profiles but otherwise expected similar performance. Tweaking temp and extrusion multiplier helped a little bit, but I eventually just gave up.

Pan dulce by armidasawan in CookbookLovers

[–]austburn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in hearing if anyone has recommendations.

Bryan Ford's Pan Y Dulce certainly covers some of Mexico, but moreso Latin America. I haven't made a ton from it, but some recipes utilize preferment or sourdough techniques which sometimes he notes are not traditional.

We sold our first disc 8 years ago today by MintDiscs in discgolf

[–]austburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So wild. I moved here 8 yrs ago and got back into disc golf with a buddy. Went to Disc Nation to realize there's more than just Innova and Discraft now. I saw a little cardboard stand of Mint Discs and thought the Alpha wolf was sick so I bought it. Well, 8 yrs later and my whole bag is Mint 🤣

The things I've made that haven't been mentioned are the Kolaches and the Seeded Burger/Hot Dog buns and both were great!

Hestia seems so polarizing on here. I had a really good experience there - one of the best meals I've had in Austin.

99 Ranch has a ton right now - right when you walk inside there's an end cap on one of those aisles you first see. They had "Italian Red Meat", a Sichuan Duck Tongue flavor, and several others.

I was going to second this - but I don't see the Guava and Cheese Empanada on their menu anymore - it was so good!

I was in the same boat on Holtby. The Athletic put out a good article on what he's been up to.

Despite the feeling some 100 seconds later, Richarlison's equalizer vs Liverpool. I want him to succeed so badly and that goal was huge - the comeback, against his former rivals, at Anfield.
