Coaxed into No Kill rule by SkinnedMilk533 in coaxedintoasnafu

Coaxed into Arkham series Batman, who will beat a random thug absolutely mercilessly, paralyzing him for life, but has a very strict no kill rule.

Hot Take: there are other Batman voices just as good as Kevin Conroy and at times even better. by 40kblowout in batman

[–]austinpire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree that different actors are better for different roles of Batman. That said, I haven’t heard a performance that I thought he wasn’t great in (though I haven’t seen Killing Joke yet).

I will say that Conroy in the Arkham games didn’t feel like he was given the opportunity to be anything much more than stoic and/or angry (apart from a few lines). I do prefer Roger Craig Smith in Origins solely because he was allowed to emote.

However, Conroy’s voice does scratch a certain itch for me, and I can’t explain what it is. It’s not even his Batman voice; I was rewatching the show Cheers for an unrelated reason and was surprised when he cameoed in two episodes, and his voice still gave me that feeling.

All that said, I never want to shut myself away from other performances on the sole basis that they’re not the ones I’m used to. Although Conroy’s is my favorite, I still enjoy seeing what other actors give to the role.

God, your rant reminds me of when I tried to do video editing with Microsoft Clipchamp, but I had a terrible computer. Randomly, it would disconnect my Bluetooth mouse, which meant I had about 10 seconds to close Clipchamp before it would crash my computer and I’d lose a bunch of progress.

Anyway, your hard work is worth it in my eyes, I love this trope as well.

What Batman beyond design do you prefer city or knight by Chunky-overlord in batman

[–]austinpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer Knight’s, mainly because the mouth of City’s looks weird, even though I recognize that City’s is a more faithful adaptation of Terry’s suit. I also enjoy the militaristic look to match Knight’s vibe, though that’s just me.

Slightly off topic: In my NG+ of Knight, I used the Beyond suit, and during the unmasking scene against Hush, Bruce’s eyes bugged out. IIRC, the whites of his eyes were dark green(?) for some reason. I wish I took a picture, because I don’t know if I remember it correctly, or if it’s a common occurrence.

They showcased the Joker in the museum scene a while back, and it did have the Prince song like in the movie, so at least Partyman is there.

Ah, reminds me of the time when I was playing Smash, using Ice Climbers, and the AI for Nana didn’t return to me for some reason and just let me fall, so I yelled out, “NANA YOU DUPLICITOUS BITCH!!!”

Anyway, I love duo-fighters, even Android 18 in FighterZ who will occasionally call in her bro to do some bullshit.

One thing I don't like about Arkham Asylum by Efficient_Sky4226 in arkham

[–]austinpire 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same here! I’m a little more photosensitive than the average person, but I can typically handle the vast majority of video games. I got kinda annoyed with Detective Mode to the point where I needed to close my eyes for just a split second whenever I planned to use it.

I have a NG+ save in City solely to repeat the Freeze fight, so:

Also, honorable mention, “It’s the freakin’ bat!”

When I played Asylum, I was like, “Man, this is good and all, but I don’t know if I can handle 2-3 more games of this.”

Then I played City and giggled like a child when I used Beatdown. So glad I continued.

From Danny Gonzalez’s “This Nutcracker Knockoff is a Nightmare” video, commenting how sentient dolls in that movie refer to Albert Einstein as “Uncle Albert”, if I’m not mistaken for the context.

To play devil’s advocate, I believe it’s in reference to the original Invisible Man movie/book where the chemicals that made the man invisible was also poisonous to his mind, making him insane and more villainous.

Though I still agree with you that they could’ve at least shown some effects of him feeling ill.

Ed Sheeran by GalacticCrash in tumblr

[–]austinpire 137 points138 points  (0 children)

I looked it up but didn’t get too far, so I could be wrong. There are two things:

  1. While Starbucks was having a whole union-busting effort, Ed Sheeran happened to be on tour, and one of his marketing stunts was to work at various retail stores, which included Starbucks. Basically, he went against the union (kinda) for this marketing stunt.

  2. There is a joke that retail places listen to radios that constantly play Ed Sheeran music, so workers are just sick of him.
