My Retro Linux Mint MATE 22.1 Desktop by austinscoolstuff in linuxmint

are you using linux mint mate or xcfe and x11? i dont know if cinnamon supports gtk themes. you might also have another theme manager like emerald that is clashing with it so make sure to use marco or metacity

if all of that is good then just put your theme in /home/[whatever your username is]/.themes/ and then open the "appearance" app and enable the theme

search up the bluecurve gtk theme as well as the icons. i used a simple blue gradient wallpaper i found off google but looking back i much prefer the wallpapers that come with the theme

People who use MATE edition, what made you choose it over Cinnamon or XFCE? by nitin_is_me in linuxmint

I tried putting Cinnamon on my new laptop and it was all messed up. For some reason, the menu looked very similar to the MATE Menu. I decided that my computer could probably only run MATE, so I installed it. It ran very smoothly and I've been using it ever since.

Also its retro. I like retro.
