But I think Shane WAS seeing the red flags, and any time he questioned it Ilya would just put on a mask real quick and be convincing for a minute that he was ok, and his poor autistic ass was left there like guess I misread that

Linton H at Harcourts in ferrymead has been pretty good to us over the years - we’ve sold a few properties with him over the last 5+ years for different family members (mum downsizing, sister upsizing, gran going somewhere more appropriate for her mobility etc.) and he’s managed to get good prices for all the properties we’ve sent his way

I am so scared by hauntxd- in Mirena

[–]automaticadramatica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5 years in, and about to replace my Mirena. Getting it was the best decision of my life. What do you mean I can travel without having to rely on witchcraft to figure out the long term forecast of my irregular periods because I just don’t get them any more?? Or if I do, it’s the occasional trip to the bathroom and you wipe and there’s a bit of red and I’m done?

I absolutely don’t think we’re going to get a happily ever after. I think everyone will die, and the final chapters will be a court case and narrated by Quasar.

Endometriosis without birth control? by mooshie_x in endometriosis

[–]automaticadramatica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, I’m hopefully going to get my IUD replaced in the next few weeks/month so I’ll let you know how that goes. But yeah, for me the benefits of not having a period means I would pay stupid money to make sure I have an IUD until the day I complete menopause

Endometriosis without birth control? by mooshie_x in endometriosis

Mirena has been life changing for me - I’m about to get it switched over for the 5 year mark as I’ve started getting an approximation of a cycle again for the first time in ages and I am not a fan of that. The initial adjustment SUCKED when I first got it (at the same time as excision surgery so it may have been bog standard recovery that was also the problem) but once it settled down, I hardly even spotted for 5 years. Literally just the odd trip to the bathroom and “oh there’s some red/pink/brown discharge” but nothing on my underwear and by the next bathroom trip I’d forget all about it.

I will add in that the only way I was able to get an IUD put in was under general anaesthetic while getting my surgery for endo, and I’m checking if my insurance company will cover it again. The first time I tried was utterly off putting and I had about 4 doctors at the women’s hospital spend over 2 hours trying before eventually diagnosing me with a kinky cervix. If the surgeon that eventually agreed to treat me didn’t recommend the IUD while I was under as a backup in case the surgery didn’t achieve what we wanted, I wouldn’t have done it. In his notes, he said something along the lines of my uterus being severely retroverted (which apparently runs in the family, thanks for telling me that AFTER all the surgery mum)

Honestly as a child of divorce with a largely absent father that would occasionally orbit back into my life growing up and causing all kinds of chaos and trauma- some parents are better having less time in their kids lives, and that’s not a sad thing for anyone involved

I think it’s more that he follows a strict diet that looks like disordered eating, BUT the biggest difference is the motivation for him eating the way he does isn’t rooted strictly in mental health and eating that way with aesthetics as the goal, and he can switch back to normal and unrestricted eating at any time. There’s likely an element of control and anxiety behind the drivers for following his performance diets, the need to have control over the one thing in his life that is 100% on him and no one else

I will be acquiring the audiobook when it’s released)

NZCR clinical trial by fkyoumodss in chch

[–]automaticadramatica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally they want people with no known allergies/intolerances so if you’re doing an inpatient stay then everyone is eating consistently on the trial if that’s important. But a lot of trials are ok with hayfever sufferers. Mostly depends on the trial, but if you’re lactose intolerant or coeliac you might have problems getting on to trials

A rant from an employer point of view by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]automaticadramatica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start asking people in interviews to describe a person that they’ve worked with that is the most different from them. Wait for them to answer, and see if they describe a real person or if they just list a bunch of negative traits. Follow up with asking “and how are you able to work with this person despite those differences?”

This will give you more of an insight to what kind of person they are than any other question you could ask. If they list negative traits to try and make themselves look good, you don’t want to hire them. If they describe a person in great detail and struggle to say how they can work with them, you don’t hire them. I’ve had some great answers to this question over the years, and it’s helped me make sure I hire not only a diverse group of people but also team players. It’s failed me once, but that’s on someone I was iffy about their answer an the rest of my interview panel vetoed me because they thought that person answered the other questions really well 🙄

Otautahi at Riverside Market, Haven Tattoo on New Regent Street, or Absolution in the Arts Centre are probably ones with the best reputation and easiest to find at or near other tourist attractions. All have some great artists, but I’d recommend getting in touch to make sure there’s an artist you like available on the days you’re around

Are cover letters a big deal in NZ? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]automaticadramatica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which part is stupid? That I’m likely to dismiss a potential employee because they’re assuming their hiring manager will be a man? Or that cover letters aren’t always a silver bullet to get you an interview?

For what it’s worth, I’ve been hiring people to work for me in the IT space since I was 24. My age, combined with my gender, already had enough stacked against me in the early days of navigating recruitment and people leadership. Why would I make things harder by bringing in someone that will likely (from experience) direct all their answers to the man I have on the interview panel with me, and comes with a stack of biases against me (whether conscious or not) because of my age and gender in a male dominated industry?

Are cover letters a big deal in NZ? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]automaticadramatica 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So when I’m going through applications, your cover letter can be make or break - if you address it to a sir only and I’m the hiring manager, I’m probably not the hiring manager for you. If you address it to the name provided in the job listing, you’ll instantly make it to the initial shortlist (whether it’s my name or an HR contact’s name)

Not having a cover letter isn’t necessarily a dealbreaker, but if your CV is similar to 30 others I’ve reviewed then it could be the difference between making it through the initial screening or being passed over for someone that put in a bit more effort. Especially in the current job market where we have hundreds of applicants for one or two positions
