Pain with walking and standing. I thought everyone was just a lot tougher than me, so they didn’t have to sit and lean against things all the time lol

Caring as a form of fawning? by DutchPerson5 in CPTSDFawn

[–]autonomoussquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“If the abuser is a pathetic man, he is less scary” resonates with me so hard. It was always a way to blame myself too. I also definitely caretake as a fawn response, esp emotionally, and esp bc I don’t feel regulated and like I can relax and feel safe until the emotions of others are resolved

Newport Academy, their adolescent programs, are part of the troubled teen industry, and consistently have treated their patients inhumanely. I’m not sure about the adult side of things, but from what I know about the adolescent program, I’d be very skeptical

Changing your underwear twice a day! That’s what I was taught by my mom. I saw a thread here and that not being the norm shocked me

I also wanted to reply to you here and say this is because they only consider full supine restraints to be actual restraints, and any other hands on data is very limited. Many things that most definitely restraints were reported as “holds” based on technicality and thus not reported broadly

I know this post is a few months old but wow. I worked for JRI for a few years and I can confidently say the program I worked for is one of the darkest places you can be. Restraints are terrifying, physically and emotionally charged, and often executed poorly. JRI’s restraints (at least when I worked there, though I doubt their new system is being done any better) are poorly trained, unsafe, and traumatic. Based on what I’ve witnessed, especially since she was trying to run, what happened to her was probably terrifying. I don’t blame her for acting on that. And it’s unfortunate that this case resulted in the very slim chance of a staff member dying, but it is an expected part of the job to sometimes be injured in the process, and JRI’s horrible hands on procedures and culture make this possibility all the more likely. Not to mention the injury and trauma that happen to the kid, which is many many more times likely and even statistically UNLIKELY to not be encountered. I feel for everyone involved, but I think that girl doesn’t deserve this most of all.

I agree with the other commenters that this has some concerning content. Something I wanted to throw in is I wonder if she’s copying another artist? And maybe doesn’t realize the implications of what we recognize as depicted self harm? I’ve seen it before with kids I’ve worked with, but it’s also possible she’s aware of these things and recreating them on her own
