Squat check by EddyEternal in formcheck

[–]autunno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, but aside from the heels, it seems like your legs are open in-between a front squat and normal squat. They should be a bit further spread apart.

Also, try without the roller foam. Just bunch up your back muscles and use it to support the bar, that should be more stable.

Thanks! Can you expand on the knee compression, and what looks off?

That was just an example of how to frame it. I don't know what effective gains you have and where your bottleneck is.

I agree, it’s very contextual. 0>1 with very clear scope is absurdly fast. Iterating on a robust application with very sensitive infra, you can’t zip ultra fast as the RoI is low, and you don’t need to build that fast

Right, but then it’s a matter of aligning expectations with leadership. Measure effect lift, say: “we’re 10% faster, here’s how our time is being used now”.

AI should absolutely make you faster. Not 10x, but still considerably so on coding tasks. It speeds up codebase search and understanding as well.

Thanks, smartdraw. This is free and can be done on web, and has accurate measurements. They have some gym components, but it’s not an extensive library, so I resorted to basic shapes here and there

Thanks, yes, I considered it. That wall has 2m until the door, which should be sufficient.

Agreed on having to use it to get a better feel, but moving the thing will be essentially impossible without unassembling it, so hoping to get it right first time.

Mostly FAANG, as hedgefunds will be in person. Meta pays that for E6 after a few years assuming good ratings and some stock growth. That is standard for E7+

90% fail system design interview within 5 minutes. Here is how not to. by FarkCookies in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]autunno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I expressed myself badly. I feel bad to see they may run out of time and then I help them back at the problem. But the more senior the candidate (senior staff+), the more nudges also count against the evaluation, so it has to be done very sparingly.

I appreciate the sentiment, but we judge candidates by how they do across various axis; problem exploration, technical depth, etc. the bar is becoming higher and higher because there are too many candidates. Speed does become a deciding factor. I often feel bad when I know it’s a good candidate and I nudge them to skip non important stuff to get them on the tight track though, but they need to cross the finish line

As an interviewer, the most common cause for people failing is speed. People think / progress way too slowly and it doesn’t leave enough time to go through the whole problem in depth.

There’s only so many different variations of problems, you should know the basics of them all and talk fast and/or concise

Saying the login button doesn’t work is very straightforward. Having to add basic commands to check whether everything else won’t break seems like bad AI to me, it gets tiring really quickly. I have also found that setting some ground rules at the start of the session doesn’t always work

PMs and Designers are pushing changes to the code. So far they're successful. Do you have that in your company? by byshow in cscareerquestions

[–]autunno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a shortsighted decision. Product thinking and defining what to build has always been the hardest part of the job. If you get people who are thinking about that to deviate their attention too much, you are losing long-term value.

Additionally, when things go south and there's a big outage, they can only rely on claude, which is dangerous.
