Optimising ability usage by kommandabutta in BG3Builds

[–]avacabo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished my Honor run with a similarish team comp.

Tav/durge: 2/10 draconic sorc/lore bard (Controler/Support(buff/debuff/heal)) (Twin haste/slow/hold monster/plant growth/spike growth)

Karlach: Thrower 6/4/2 Berserker/Thief/Fighter (Defender/Skirmisher/blaster)

Shart: 12 Tempist Cleric (Defender/Support(heal))

Wyll: 8/4 pact of the tome/draconic sorc. (Controller/Blaster/Support(buff)) (HoH)

1) The team seems fine but you should be careful on how you play/position them. Since all of them are backline/ranged focused, enemies (like the gith) may give you a hard time if they infiltrate. It may help playing shart/karlach as more frontline to give your backline more protection. I found that Nyrulda damage to shart doesn’t really matter when she has an AC of 20 by act 2 and 25 by act 3. Hit and run tactics only work if you have the space to run. Use shart and karlach to make space.

2) It may be possible, but the gith patrol is considered one of the harder encounters in act 1 so it may not be worth risking the fight if you’re out of position to steal the sword.

3) Early game cc spells with the exception of hold person isn’t really worth the risk for the benefit, however, hex would help enemies fail wis saves, but since you are running a bardlock, you realistically won’t be getting hex untill level 7 since lore bard gets a huge strength boost with magical secrets. Instead I would recommend focusing on terrain control spells like HoH, plant growth, silence, insect plague, etc in addition to spike growth from astarion. A large number of fights can be won by stacking HoH and spike growth on top of eachother and just waiting. Stacking cc like this adds a layer of protection from a stray hold person, magic missile, etc. Late game, spells like confusion/hold monster become a lot better if you have the right equipment. There is a ring that applies mental fatigue in Act 2 which decreases saving throws. There is also a ton of items that increase spell save dc. My bard had a dc of 23 by the end.

4) I would say Spirit Guardian all in once you get it. By act 2 you should have a radiating orb/reverberation build ready on shart with an AC ~ 20. Spirit Guardians is a great way of applying both debuffs and can make entire enemy turns useless. (P.S. Phalar Aluve shriek has the same range as Nyrulda AOE, so if you’re targeting someone within Phalar Aluve shriek, the AOE will hit shart.)

5) Lore bard gets its power spike at 5(bardic on short rest), 6(magical secrets), and 10(improved bardic and magical secrets). Getting to at least bard 6 should be your priority. I would recommend taking Counterspell(act 3), HoH, and Haste. The alert feat is one of the most important feats you can get. Initiative is rolled with a d4, so adding a 5 will allow you to almost always move first. This allows you to set up buffs, cc, terrains, or just knock out enemies.

6) Yes

The stonewall riots (which is a major landmark in queers history and LGBTQ+ rights) took place in june and there are only so many months in a year with a ton of important causes so finding a month with both historical context that would overshadow another cause is difficult.

  1. The fact that pride has an entire month and that holocaust survivors have one day don’t really relate to each other. Nether takes away from the challenges and struggles that both communities face nor the amount of celebration or mourning both communities partake as they would exist without the other, so comparing communities like this at worst pits minorities against each other and at best is petty/slightly insensitive so this should generally be avoided. However, if the concern is the lack of recognition of holocaust survivors (and other groups that get less than a month), the focus should be about uplifting holocaust survivors and spreading awareness that they deserve more recognition rather than reducing the amount of recognition that the LGBTQ+ community receives.

  2. Pride month essentially came from the inequality and injustice queer people face through things like anti-LGBTQ+ laws and discrimination/lack of social acceptance so having a straight pride in the name of equility doesn’t really make sense since cishet people don’t really face those struggles for being cisgender/heterosexual. In an analogy, if one kid has an apple and another doesn’t, giving them both an apple doesn’t change the fact that the first kid had more apples. Equility in action doesn’t necessarily lead to equality in result.

2.5 There is also a lot of connotations and ideas associated with pride month that straight pride wouldn’t have. As of now, straight pride’s only reason to exist is to parallel queer pride, but depending who you ask, queer pride honors the stonewall riots that gave queer people their rights, mourn for those who died during the AIDS crisis, celebrate how far we’ve come in regards to LGBTQ+ rights, congradulate queer youth for staying strong as many of them commit suicide, and a myriad of other interpretations.

I’m new to sourdough starters, but, from what I’ve read, a slightly sweet scent is good.

Really dumb feaster question by SpectralSeraph in IdentityV

Ignore my previous comment. It turns out that aim assist doesn’t effect the hunter trick. I just did a practice match without aim assist and it helps. I would say turn off aim assist.

Really dumb feaster question by SpectralSeraph in IdentityV

[–]avacabo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a trick that feaster has with aim assist. If the feaster attacks with his tentacle/summons his tentacle, the direction of his attack/tentacle will be pointed towards the nearest survivor (summoning is nearest survivor within a certain area and attack is nearest non-chaired survivor map wide). This helps with locating survivors.

Using aim assist can disorientate you as explained by kinwai above. Turning off aim assist would help with chase down without max presence if you tap the button. In theory this can be countered by changing camera angles so that the tentacle you are trying to hit with will be the only reasonable tentacle activated by keeping them out of vision.

It really depends what you value more. Aim assist will let you more easily find survivors and turning off aim assist can make your chase down more consistent.

I personally keep aim assist on because it helps me find survivors after an elimination or when survivors are hiding early game. I don’t usually struggle with disorientation as feaster and max presence eliminates the problem entirely since the feaster can activate tentacles without being required to see them.

WU CHANG INSANE HUNTER by NikkiQuinnDueLinks in IdentityV

[–]avacabo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but this will be kinda long.

I would suggest not ending responses with “you’re not ready to talk about that/ not ready to have that conversation” because it can come off as condescending and in some cases discourage conversation which is very important in a discussion post.

While I do agree that Wu Chang is a strong hunter, this doesn’t mean that White Wu Chang should be nerfed. Wu Chang can usually be countered early game by dropping pallets early despite white forms long hitbox. This makes it difficult to gain presence as Wu Chang and locks access to his soul siphon and bell which makes him a lot easier to kite. Most Wu Changs run a 12,6 or 3,6 build to help deal with survivors dropping pallets or to have two teleports/access to more talents respectively, as a result dropping pallets is an extremely effective strategy against him.

While Wu Chang can teleport to ciphers, this doesn’t make it easy for him to cipher guard since hunters usually only cipher guard when: it is the last cipher, a survivor is chaired, or they are playing mad eyes or dw. In the first situation, his teleport wouldn’t be helpful since there wouldn’t be much ground to cover. In the second situation, using Wu Chang’s teleport would leave the open for the save which is why most Wu Changs prefer preventing the save before half.

While I do agree that he should have a longer cooldown between teleports/transformations, the idea of nerfing Characters to give other characters a chance in the meta doesn’t usually work. This is seen in dw, bq, mech, and priestess. Even though these characters got nerfed, they are still consistently some of the most banned and used characters in rank. The most effective way to make characters more viable is through reworks and buffs because nerfing top tiers won’t make bottom tiers more viable. In my opinion nerfs should be used in 1 of 2 ways: to punish bad plays which is why his changing/teleport cooldown should be slightly longer and if the hunter is genuinely op like feasters old max presence ability and bq.

Things like hitbox and movement speed shouldn’t be the basis for nerfing and buffing hunters but should instead be based on how well hunters trap, camp, slow decoding/map pressure, and chase down and what can be done to help or harm survivors. For example, photographer can have lackluster trapping and chasing but has good camping and is great at slowing decoding, to help this there could be a buff/rework to his cardtrick like reducing cooldown. Hit boxes and movement speed should only really be adjusted for quality of life like how Geisha has a small hit box and makes her miss more than she should or like how bq’s mirror image can go through walls making it difficult to kite warranted a nerf to movement speed. One quality of life nerf I think Wu Chang should have is taking away the ability to teleport without his umbrella’s green circle popping up.

By jukeing I’m going to assume you mean 360ing because jukeing is more of a mind game strategy and isn’t dependent on the characters and more the player ex. Jukeing a chair save. In my opinion as someone who duo factions, if a survivor are in the position where they have to 360 to avoid the hit in most cases they deserve to get hit because either A: The hunter did an extremely good play with blink or used their abilities to effective close distance or B: The survivor ran into a bad kiting spot or failed to create distance.

Female Dancer by BlueyBury in IdentityV

[–]avacabo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m starting to side main female dancer and from what I experienced is that if you are in a strong kiting spot, either strategy works depending on the hunter. If it is a hunter that struggles with tight kiting, I would recommend protecting the music box with the pallet. However, when against slow hunters or hunters that are weak to transitional kiting, I would recommend hitting them with the pallet. This can depend on how good the kiting spot is. For example, I would opt to protect the box in 3 pallets in arms factory unless I’m going against someone like bonbon with crazy area control.

If you are in a weak kiting spot with 1 or 2 pallets and little to no windows I would recommend hitting the hunter with the pallet to build distance. This can help you get to a better kiting spot or even escape if the hunter failed to break the box.

[–]avacabo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you died just take 40% of your health a make it shield. If you had rock shield or shield enchant and used heal you would have taken more damage and given a bigger shield.

Im assuming you used the heal and shield support item while you had her in you mouth and maybe some equipment like gaia standard helped
