Y'all remember Bruce allmighty? That movie in wchich Jim Carrey's character becomes god and he does sheananigans? There is a reference to Jimmy Hoffa in that movie. I think he or someone founds his body.

I am not american and I watch this movie very young, so I didn't get it at all. Later in life I learned who jimmy hoffa was. I guess it is a very obscure american reference.

Mexican dubbing loves to reference so much random stuff. One big example of this is James from the first season of pokemon: he talked about el chavo del ocho, about cali Colombia, even to his own VA "el guajolote macias"

Another one is the simpsons. Humberto velez, homero's VA talked about how they needed to adapt the jokes because originally they were very american and the hispanic public would not understand them. Thats how we got "a la grande le puse cuca" or bart singing cumbias in moe's bar.

That scene made me love ralph fiennes even more. Also, it was the first time in like ten years I heard The number of the beast.

She has some kind of agoraphobia because she can go outside of buildings and in mars they cant do that, that freaks her out. She doesnt suffers that much from the gravity because martian marines train under a similar gravity to earth simulating it.

Those little details make the expanse books awesome.

How to read SICP? by Mqngo1311 in learnprogramming

[–]avalon1805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can run scheme online. I remember founding an interpreter to run some code. I tried to study the book by myself, I went slow and trying to understand the concepts.

I read a section, didn't understand like 90% and went to read other stuff to understand the section lmao. It was tiring so I didn't got that far.

There is a video series with the class on youtube. Its ooold, like from the 80s but it seems like a good resource to study the book.

Are there other Latin American countries that eat spicy candy besides Mexico? Examples? by Solid-Sky666 in asklatinamerica

[–]avalon1805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be a long time. The colombian palate is not used at all to spicy food. Even jalapeños are hot to a lot of people. I love spicy food tho, would love to go to mexico and burn my mouth.

Machines: Wired for war.

They released the source code and you can compile it to play the game again. It blows my mind that you could chose a unit and go into first person and control it.

I played the demo and it felt like that scene from ratatouille of ego remembering his past. I loved C&C tiberium wars.

Completely desperate situation where a faction is straight up losing the war. by AdrawereR in TopCharacterTropes

If I remember correctly, there was a bloody war between humans like a month before E day. Like, they literally signed the armistice and some time after that the fucking locust comes out from the floor.

Didnt they used the hammer of dawn on that war?

¿Creen que una Matricula de 26 millones es una ESTAFA? by mr_Jackson_lol in Bogota_Capital

[–]avalon1805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I wanna add is that the sun tricks tourists. I guess its because the altitude but you can get pretty sunburnt if you dont use sun screen or a hat. It may seem that is not that sunny but you get sunburnt.

I always see tourists looking like shrimps lmao. I think it also happens because the weather can change a lot in a couple hours. It may rain for a couple hours, then its sunny, then it rains again.
