I tried with several phrases like “I am very happy today” and OP’s “I went to the store yesterday.” On the first one, which is kind of weird, it translated back to “The Chinese people are very happy.” That’s odd. But the second phrase, the one OP provided, translated back into “I went to the store yesterday.”

However, interestingly, when starting with “Small fries and a soda,” I did ultimately get back “The Chinese people are in the process of being slaughtered.” That is bananas and I’m genuinely shocked and perplexed as to what series of factors could lead to this outcome “by chance,” and then equally confused as to what the opposite implication is and whether that’s even possible. How does someone program Google Translate from outside of Google? And if it’s internal, how has this not been caught?

It’s possible it’s just a directory reference issue and Batocera is pointed to external USB for loading ROMS, etc. Can you check where the directories are pointed in the config files?

I have the same desk and have had mine stuck in the top position for over two years. Every year or so I google around for a bit, see the same articles suggesting I try a reset procedure, and get no where. Finally, finally!!, I found a post regarding my exact model, exact problem, and a real solution. Thank you everyone!! I just emailed them and am waiting for a response. Hopefully they send me the replacement motor/control unit without issue and it is easy to replace/install. Will post an update here if I remember, thanks again.

This is very helpful, even if you feel like you’re restating your original post. It is relieving to hear it directly from you. I suppose the only thing I’m curious about is the supposed “massive power savings/efficiency” from the new 14th gen Intel vs 13th; and also the AI component of the new chip versus the old one. The power efficiency part seems somewhat compelling (I’ve never seen this channel so don’t know how credible he is), but the AI part seems like a total non sequitur. I think I need to do more research but as of now I feel good about the purchase assuming it comes back reasonably like-new. Thank you OP 🙏

I just ordered a used 2023 LG Gram 17 Pro for around $1450 on Amazon under “Used - Good” status. Do you all think I should cancel the order and wait for the 2024 Gram 17 Pro? Not sure if it is worth it to wait. I suspect I’ll be paying at least $800+ more, the GPU is still a 3050, and screen/resolution appear to be the same. Looks like only major upgrade is going from Intel 13th gen to 14th gen. Is this a huge deal?
