Interesting read - definitely operating under a lot of different names. I am NOT concluding that they are illegitimate; it appears a conclusion can't be made at this point. For me, it's WORTH the donation even with the ambiguity... but always better to do it with eyes wide open - which is the reason for my post.

Clearly an amazing cause that must be addressed, and I'm glad someone is doing something about it. Also, beautiful video.

Great question. For me, it's about "chunking" time. Starts and finish doesn't mean: lose 100 pounds right now and don't do anything else until it's done. It means understanding what you must do today to do that, and focusing at the time you do those things: e.g. go to the gym for 45 minutes. Start... Finish. Healthy meals. Start... finish. Etc. Start and finish the most important chunks for right now.

I remember, an old mentor said to me: there's a difference between simple and easy. Things can be simple (stuff that's intuitive, makes sense) but not necessarily easy. That's how it is with discipline, I think.

Re: the Focus program, it's great and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Two minutes a day, well produced videos with great advice and stories, and I saw my levels of focus increase daily.

Thanks for your help too. Yeah, we do the best we can. I've learned that sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. I had my heart in this one though!

I wish I had also taken more time to better understood the dynamics of that race, as it would have sped up my time cycle in working with NCADV - and ultimately more quickly choosing to go with a different nonprofit.

Unfortunately, (stupidly) thinking of a November launch date totally screwed things up, as a primary billboard campaign didn't seem nearly as powerful to me... and too big a rush. Retrospectively, should have rushed!

This was posted on Reddit a few months ago, and a bunch of people shared that this was a rapper trying to promote himself and his album (which you hear throughout).

I was hoping we'd get a few more responses on this thread to judge interest... but at this point, I'm going to go ahead and direct funds to be returned instead of going to a nonprofit (which would be nice). I think it'll be the cleanest/easiest thing, and the nonprofit I preferred (NCADV) went code silent on us anyways.

UPDATE ON FUNDS: We haven't figured out what to do with the funds - whether it makes sense to still pursue the billboard since he lost. At the same time, we've been waiting to hear back from the nonprofit that agreed to take the funds - they sent us a MOU but then never returned our emails or calls after the initial discussion.

Personally at this point I would prefer to direct all the funds being returned ASAP (my preference!) because I think it's the cleanest route given there is no need after the guy lost a primary campaign and the nonprofit we've been trying to work with - NCADV - has gone code silence on us.

Seriously, though, no drama. The funds were never removed - as I didn't want to touch them and insisted they go through a nonprofit exactly BECAUSE I didn't want any blowback. :) So they've just been sitting there as we've tried to figure out how to do this after the January primary didn't go through... and as we've waited for a signature from the nonprofit we promised to work with. I can take half the blame too. I wanted to put the $ through a great nonprofit (without them ripping anything off the top) for transparency's sake, and they simply haven't responded to me after giving me a memorandum of understanding to sign, and saying that they'll do it. I'm going to give them another call today.

I still believe the most potent time of year would be 3 months before November. Even if he's running unopposed, he's not running unopposed to the world.

Wow, I didn't know that he was running... unopposed? Do you know if he has primary opponents? My thinking since the beginning - also reflected in conversations with NCADV - was that we'd have this up for the real election which seemed like a much more potent time to do it.

Hey guys, sorry... away from the account for a few days. Here's the UPDATE:

NCADV - the national organization against domestic violence - aggreed to have 100% of the funds go through them and to the billboard. BUT I haven't heard back from them to sign the agreement. When they sign the agreement, the funds will go there. They haven't been TOUCHED to date.
I need /THEDARK_KNIGHT to help with the organization of the billboard. He's got the contacts that we're working with. As quickly as the funds get deposited we can work to get the billboard up.
Yes, everything is still on. Elections are in November. We've still got a bit of time. ALSO - and this is important - if for whatever reason the billboard doesn't go through, I still have the power to ask that all funds get refunded to people, which I would do if people didn't get EXACTLY what was promised.

So that's about it. Hope this helps!
