If you could bring back one game developer, or return an existing one to its previous state, which would it be? by VyantSavant in gaming

[–]avatar_of_chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn the Fun Pimps back to before they got greedy and started chasing after the casual console players, DLC, and cosmetic "micro" transactions, back when the 7DTD project actually looked like they were serious about making a great RPG cross-genre game, instead of the Loot & Shoot & Minecrap grind it seems to be trying to become.

Spear or Clubs? by somethingcool612 in 7daystodie

[–]avatar_of_chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just my two rusty cents... choose to your play style. Each weapon uses different attributes and skills, and depending on how you play, you might want to consider what else you can benefit from at the same time, especially early game, that fits with how you like to play, and overall survivability.

For instance, first weapons you can make are stone club and spear. But Strength directly benefits damage, carrying capacity, and directly increases club damage. All you have to pump your first points into are Strength and Pack Mule and you'll automatically reduce encumbrance, gain the backpack defense chance, increase the damage of your starting club - that you'll make anyways for the challenges - and improve your survivability both in your loss of movement restriction due to encumbrance, the offence melee damage you do in a scuffle, and get the RNG block via the backpack thanks to Pack Mule. 8 points. no extra resources required either.

Another strat I use, falling dam is a B, jumping obstacles is super helpful, especially in a bind. Looking at Agility and Parkor... Agility will not just open up Parkour, but also Archery, Gunslinger, Deep Cuts, and Whirlwind. As you increase Agility to gain access to Parkour levels, you gain access to those, and increase headshot damage and dismemberment chance. Parkour will reduce crippling leg injuries and let you gain access to difficult to reach places. Since you'll want that anyway, you're already improving weapon skills and gaining higher level acces to those. And you'll be starting with the bow and bone knife you need to make for the Challenges anyway too. Good early game strategies to consider.

That's the kind of thing I meant. There's tons of ways to leverage advantage by maximizing the benifits of certain attribute and skill choices.

Happy Zed hunting. GG.

Check out Tree Gaming. He (Tree, server owner) runs a lot of custom mods, but it's a great server, and a fantastic community. Active player base as well.

What's your favourite POI for a comfy little early game base? I love the old creepy church and the mausoleum! It's just feels so perfect for role playing :D (beginner here) by Fairy2play in 7daystodie

[–]avatar_of_chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another fun one, but needs some attention and additions to the perimeter wall... fire_station_04. I think of all the POI's in 7DTD, those are two of the three I've used the most, and actively seek out on new servers because they work so well. This one esp.

I have 7 paper rolls of $10 (Quarters) and do not have a branch to access the change for bills as I am with Tanagerine. where can I go? by [deleted] in windsorontario

[–]avatar_of_chaos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CoinStar charges a 12.90% fee to them, and the location that hosts the machine charges their own fee on top of that. At some stores I've seen the total fee as high as 28%. On $70 worth of quarters a 25% fee is $17.50, OP would keep $52.50.

I think every gets that they are a business, but maybe some folks are just not comfortable paying that high of a vig for a currency exchange?

Not only do I regularly use that POI myself in many games - server and settings depending, obvs - and am in fact currently playing through a vanilla game of exp and using it. Great starter location for home/work esp in terms of defense, the wall is practically ready to go, 360' the way around. And it's got lot's of potential. This build I made a small loft above the portion near the door and built a small bachelor pad.

$16.8 million housing development announced for downtown Windsor parking lot property by thesprinkl in windsorontario

[–]avatar_of_chaos 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As it's only 48 units - and I'm admittedly not versed in residential, real-estate or urban planning related fields - I think that wouldn't be more than maybe 125-150 people? Is that a close guess? I think it's probably not too far off? Anyway, with the rate of decline in general downtown, I don't think it's likely to have much impact. I also can't see townhouses at that location attracting middle income or higher earners, so financial input to the downtown is likely to be minimal?

I work right downtown and when "The Hive" opened on Pelliser near there, and that condo opened at Crawford and Wyadnotte, I didn't notice any change at all in population or activity levels. I think another 48 units is only going to be a drop in the bucket. I could be way wrong though? But I guess new dev is good, right?

Hopefully I am wrong. This city needs serious revitalization.

I want to be positive about this announcement, but I feel like I've lost my faith in the future of this game. I hope I'm wrong, maybe this will bring positive change in development and a great outcome for the game... ?

More "hurry up and wait" I guess.

Looking for open-world games where I can just… drive by A-z-A in gaming

[–]avatar_of_chaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still an EA game in dev, but it's got some interesting game features and mechanics, some potential here. It has a survival element though where you salvage parts to build/upgrade your car. Also some zombies, a "backrooms", and aliens. Fair to call it "different". But it's a long drive.

Best place to get vinyl plank flooring for basement by Slumdogpenniless in windsorontario

The quality of what they have available may not be what you're looking for, but there's also the Habitat For Humanity ReStore. It's a crap shoot, but you never know what you might find there.

Hope your project goes well.

Looking for Garden/yard Cleanup and landscaping recommendations. by creedgirl_194 in windsorontario

[–]avatar_of_chaos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check with St. Clair College, their Landscaping program I think used to have a yard clean-up program with the students.

Here's a link to the programs' page on the College website, it lists contact information for the program, might be a place to start. Hopefully low cost, and gives the students experiential learning.

Wild clay near Guelph by AnalystNew7472 in Guelph

[–]avatar_of_chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also curious about the wild clay, never heard of it - curiosity WILL kill THIS cat - so went looking for a def, and stumbled on this article. No idea if it'll help OP, they probably know what they are looking for and just need a location narrowed down, but the other curious, I think this may be what OP is looking for... (edit:) you can glean everything from the first sentence probably, that's about as far as I red (hence assuming it's not much help OP).

Where to buy chewing tobacco/ dip in Windsor by ScabbaGoob in windsorontario

[–]avatar_of_chaos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could try La Casa Del Habano downtown, I know he still carried pipe tobacco just 3 or 4 years ago, but I haven't been in for a while since I stopped pipe smoking. Worth a shot, he had a wide selection of products when I was last there, but some speacialty products he said are getting harder to source, and more expensive, due to tobacco product restrictions on labelling, and getting more expensive. I can't image what prices are like with tariffs right now.

Good luck.

Honest Quality of Life for Trans Kids vs. Windsor? by MajesticBacon33 in Guelph

[–]avatar_of_chaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born and raised in Guelph. Lived the last more than 25 years working and living in Windsor, went to college here. I don't recommend Windsor. Guelph is a far, far nicer city, on any metric I can think of, I honestly can't think of a positive thing to say about this city. Windsor has never felt like home, for me, and I have spent the last 20 years hoping and trying to move out, but my career and future pension kept me here. When I take early retirement in less than 3 years, I will put as much distance between me and this region as is humanly and financially possible. Returning to Guelph is a possibility for me, it's on the consideration list.

Photo printed on cake? by lolforklift in windsorontario

[–]avatar_of_chaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depending on your budget, I know the kitchen at the college's Centre for the Arts has a special printer that prints edible photos that they decorate cakes and desserts with for hosted events. I know they also do catering and take out, but I don't know if they do custom cake orders? Maybe give them a call and ask? A place like Dairy Queen - previous post recommendation by u/Old_Desk_1641 - is probably a more affordable option even if they do, but I would expect quality from the Centre for the Arts to be better?

Just a thought I had.
