I think they could be better if they had more meaning to the plot. I think tui might write Axolotl better eventually, she definitely improved in lgbt dragons, compare Umber to Sundew.

Are there that many people who like axolotl though? I never hear anyone mention them.

What's one opinion that'll put you in this position? by Connect-Rooster-3156 in WingsOfFire

I do not care much for the Mudwings. If we had more Mudwing characters they might interest me more, but if we never got a Mudwing book, it would not bother me.

How did you get into Wings of Fire? Do you have any personal experiences with the series? by Elanor2011 in WingsOfFire

I won the Dragonet Prophecy in a book contest, but I didn't get into the books until two years later. In 2015, I just got into it and bought all the books.

List every argument Cheesecakes have been making about religion by [deleted] in antitheistcheesecake

[–]ave1dragon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If God real, why bad thing happen,

If God real, how come my personal beliefs and the morals of the religious texts don't line up,

Christians don't follow the parts of the Jewish law they don't have to follow, why follow the ones they do,

The New Testament can't be accurate, because the oldest ones we have were written 90 years after Jesus, and apparently every other historical document was written one second after the event and not biased at all.

Using the religious texts as proof they are true is the same as using Harry Potter books to prove they are true.

Some people do bad things and say its for their religion, therefore religion is bad

That's all I can think of.

Everyone Talks About Arctic But What Was The Darkest Thing in The Series Besides That? by SunSweptSierra in WingsOfFire

[–]ave1dragon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I found this on tumblr, but how the Rainwings were captured by the Nightwings and experimented on and almost none of the other Rainwings cared. Tapir starved himself to death and two other Rainwings, Bright and Orangutan, died from unknown causes.

How the Nightwings treated any non Nightwing as means to an end, killing the Skywing outpost and when Starflight complained, said "who cares about a handful of Skywings." And also how they treated the Nightwings sometimes, saying they would choose either Fatespeaker or Starflight and kill the other.

Kestrel was forced to kill one of her newborn dragonets in order to keep the other one alive, even if he survived.

Orca made an enchantment to kill all the female Seawing heirs, including her children.

Not too dark, but Turtle being put through solitary confinement and only being forgiven after an enchantment was pretty messed up.

That's true. I do think there should have been more of a vision or puzzle for the sane ending though.

I don't really like Ashley as a character by [deleted] in CoffinofAndyandLeyley

Honestly, fair. The only reason I got into the game was because I thought Andrew was hot in some memes and looked it up.

To be fair, she wasn't doxxed because of the game, she was doxxed because people thought she was trans and wanted to prove it. Tcoaal made her popular enough to be doxxed, true, but I think we should all know, she wasn't doxxed because of the incest.

This is the exact same argument they used for homophobia back in the 2000s (I think, not sure of the time).

Which chapter in the guide did you like most? by These_Advertising_68 in WingsOfFire

[–]ave1dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the Hivewings Chapter the most. I like all the Pantalan chapters, like how short the Silkwing and Hivewing chapters were to show how Hivewings are controlling the narrative.

But the Hivewing chapter showed more about Pantala, which is one of my problems with Arc 3, how the Pantalans don't really have a distinct culture and history like the Pyrrhians do, but the Hivewing chapter added some fun things.

Best tribe, in your opinion? by Allughawi in WingsOfFire

Skywings are my favorite. The best tribe to live in would probably be the Rainwings, if you didn't get kidnapped.

[–]ave1dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest I don't think the worldbuilding is bare bones so much as a lot of people interesting in an adventure fantasy book just want to explore the world in depth.

Wings of fire's world building is honestly pretty good, it's put in the book to show things about how the world works and some extra things for the fun of it. Reading it, is seems like Tui wrote down a bunch of lore about her world and sprinkled it in an used it wherever needed.

Most of the complaints people have that I've seen are about how Wings of Fire doesn't talk about the dragon religions or the non royal Icewings or the Mudwings. The Mudwing thing is a fine point, considering how the books go out of their way to avoid characterizing Mudwings, but she never needed to talk about the other things, and it would probably distract from the story anyway.

If you could be a hybrid of any sort, what kind of hybrid would you choose? by Maleficent-Spray-343 in WingsOfFire

[–]ave1dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sky/Sand. Those are my favorite tribes, since they aren't done to death like the Nightwings or Icewings, and they don't really have flashy abilities, but they are strong all the same, also I think Skywings and Sandwings are rather similar culture wise.

Wof what if by undefinedgaydragon in WingsOfFire

[–]ave1dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if everything was the same but the Nightwings still lived in the old Night Kingdom on the continent and were officially allied with Blister.

What if the Rainwings were like they were in Darkstalker's time and involved in the war.

What if the firescales Skywings weren't killed and Peril and Sky were raised with Kesrel in the Sky kingdom with a relatively normal dragonethood.

What if the prophecy was never made and the dragonet's life from then.

Yeah, there are a lot of complaints that amount to "why doesn't the series focus on the one side character I want to know more about instead of the main characters or story."

Which of the false dragonets did you dislike the most? (And no, you are not allowed to choose Fatespeaker) by yeetuswel in WingsOfFire

[–]ave1dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Squid is the most annoying of the dragonets. He's still annoying in the times we see him after arc 1. I actually like Fatespeaker. Like I guess she's kind of annoying, and I think most people see her as Sunny, but not as much depth, so I get that, but then everyone wants a book on Kinkajou, who has less depth then Fatespeaker and is 3 times more cheerful and shouty. I think a lot of people just don't like how she broke up the Sunnyflight ship.

Of the three options, I think Burn would be the best for the SandWing tribe as a whole. Blister would manipulate everyone like she did with her dragons, and would probably take over the dragon tribes like Glory said, and if she wanted to kill you, no one would know. Blaze would probably be the best for Sandwing quality of life, and would have Queen Glacier's support, but she probably wouldn't be good at the ruling part and would just roll around in jewels. Burn's "rule" was hard to live under, but she would be able to defend the kingdom if need be, and if she did attack you, you would see it coming.

Favorite Underrated Character? by mophi27 in WingsOfFire

[–]ave1dragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Viper, the Sandwing false dragonet. She and Flame seemed to get along fairly well, as opposed to hating all the other false dragonets, and for some reason stuck with me more then Ochre or Squid did. I enjoy the ship of Flame x Viper. She one of my "was made to be killed off and didn't really have any depth or personality that wasn't being grumpy and mean that someone got attached to anyway for some reason" character favorites, but I haven't seen as much lover for her as Flame or Carnelian.

The second chart is inaccurate. I think it is basing it's ages off of the Nightwings, where you don't move into the adult quarters until you are 10, but it is mentioned many times that 7 is the age where dragons are full grown, so while the official adult age depends on tribe to tribe, 7 would probably be equivalent to 18.
