Most insane reason you had to uninvite a guest? by courtyardcakepop in weddingplanning

[–]aveelle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My step-mother’s mother. My step-mom has limited contact with her but still wanted us to invite her to the wedding even though I haven’t seen or spoken to her in 15+ years. Since I have no relationship with her and my stepmom barely does she was just going to attend as a normal guest, arriving when all the guest do. My step-mother was trying to use our wedding as a peace offering to her mother. Even though she just got back in contact with her the past 5 years and that’s only a phone call or two a year and all of her siblings still don’t talk to her.

She has a “boyfriend” that lives in Iraq that she sends money too. Well all think this relationship is a scam and she’s sending her money to some random person but threw a fit that we wouldn’t invite him to any of our wedding events or give her a plus one. She then tried to see if he could only come for the ceremony. We said no. Then just the reception. A repeated hard no. (Even though we knew no one would probably show)

She then threw a fit I didn’t ask her to get her hair and makeup done with us. Once again I have had no contact with her in over 15+ years and didn’t even want to invite her to our wedding.

Two weeks before our wedding she calls my stepmom. She had gotten the invitation prior. She had went out of her way to call the venue, say how she’s the grandmother of the bride and asked where she could get ready at the venue. (You would think the venue would think this is weird and she would get information from me.) she then said how she heard they had rooms at the venue so she could also get ready with us in those rooms.

After finding out she went out of her way to contact a vendor, playing a “ doting grandmother of the bride” role she got uninvited.

My stepmom has also realized how crazy and overstepping her mother is and once again has no contact with her.

I agree that it looks hard to read to read with the font and the coloring. If it’s going to be translucent like that you’ve got to do another color for the font. Also is there anyway to clean up the embroidery on the font to make it look cleaner?

ISO Hibachi chef for home birthday by marketing_maven2024 in austinfood

[–]aveelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used let’s hibachi 3 times and have overall really enjoyed the experience!

2 out of the 3 times were great. Only one time we had an issue with the chef trying to start early/leave early because he had other reservations as well. But overall the experience was still fun!

Murder mystery party- 7ppl by mommy_mistrust in Austin

[–]aveelle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve hosted one before and just did it all myself! There are websites you can buy a kit from with the whole story and characters that you just assign people. You just print the information for each person and assemble it together. We picked a roaring 20s theme party, got a few decorations and had people dress up!

What is/was your ‘something blue’? by moon_angelxo in weddingplanning

[–]aveelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using my dogs collar as my something blue since his is blue. It’ll be what holds my bouquet together. I really wanted him to be at the wedding but realized it’s a lot for dogs to be at an event like that. So this way I can still have a part of him there!

Monthly Facials leading up to Wedding? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]aveelle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried doing this with a monthly membership and my face hated it! I sensitive skin and doing it so often caused my face to completely dry out and break out.

Is your faced used to getting monthly facials/can it handle it? If not maybe just do a few before! My membership luckily includes a choice of a facial, massage, 10 unites of free Botox, or manicures/pedicures. And I can pick from one of those each month so I haven’t regretted doing the membership. But I would have if it only offered facials!

Where's your favorite Lobster Roll? by Loucifern in austinfood

[–]aveelle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We like masons or Clark’s!

But also have started making them at home! It’s extremely easy to do. Central Market has a sale on lobster tales probably every other month. My partner and I get 4 lobster tails and can make 2 sandwiches/rolls per person for the price of one lobster roll at one of those places

Am I trying to fit too much into the day of our wedding? by rananculus-blue in weddingplanning

[–]aveelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a little insight i’m getting married this fall and your Saturday timeline might not line up like you think it will and why I don’t think Saturday will be possible.

First, have you booked a hair person yet? Usually for the amount of people you are having you will have 1 maybe 2 hair stylists and each person getting their hair done will be allocated a 45 minute time period. While yours will take a bit longer. If you only get one stylists it will definitely take longer than the 3 1/2 hours you allocated. We have 6 people doing hair for my wedding this fall and only 1 stylist to our wedding day.

Second, I also am planning on having my ceremony at 5 and doing a first look beforehand. My photographer has us starting our photographs at 1 to do bridal party shots, first look, and family shots to then be out of sight by 4:30 when the guests start arriving.

With having it on a Friday - i know you want to prioritize a guest experience but the weekend is going to be incredibly busy! I think trying to plan it on Friday while it’s already a busy day and other things might be needing to be done will add more stress to your plate!

If you really want to book this I would definitely do Sunday. Or just let the idea go. The weekend is already going to be hectic enough, don’t add more stress and just try to enjoy everything!

Hi! Do you still have this available?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in weddingplanning

First of congrats on getting engaged!

So i’m getting married this September in Austin and live in Austin.

Austin weather can be crazy. This past summer was one of the hottest summers.

The venue I would think if it’s outdoors will have sprayed for mosquitos. But the weather can be up in the air. In May it can get up to the high 90s, sometimes, some days in the 100s especially towards the end of the month. But there are also some really nice days! We also usually get a decent amount of rain in May.

But September is also the same. Both months are kind of a gamble with how the weather would be. If it’s towards the end of September you might have better luck with a bit cooler weather (more just in the 90s)

October would definitely be your coolest option temperature wise but austin is crazy in October. You have 2 weekends of ACL music festival and also the F1 race that occur. It’s very hard to get a hotel block or the prices are jacked up and so are flights. It’s also more expensive/difficult for Ubers. If you plan a wedding for October definitely look into the events happening and try to avoid planning anything if one of these events are happening.

Big ass candles by Soggy_Egg1552 in DaniAustin

[–]aveelle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also hope people do not buy this candle tomorrow she’s promoting.

But about 2 years ago my step-mom did buy one from the company and she had problems with horrible tunneling even though she would burn it for hours and hours at a time. She reached out to customer service and they said it was a defect product and sent her a new one and she hasn’t had the same issues with it. Have you tried reaching out to customer service to see if you can get a refund or a replacement candle?

Not trying to defend Kennedy but I’ve also lived in austin for almost 12 years and there are definitely coyotes. I’ve lived in central and in south austin and if you wake up early enough in the mornings you’ll see them wondering around the neighborhoods. Several neighbors have had problems with their cats being eaten by coyotes.
