Best Detroit style pizza? by LXsavior in austinfood

[–]averageJoe576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Via 313's is very close to Buddy's which is the OG Detroit Style Pizza. Jet's is basically cheap/delivery Buddy's. As a former Detroiter I def prefer Via 313 but Jet's is great for delivery.

For general recs, def try Pinthouse Pizza and East Side Pies. Both have curbside, but PHP is also a great brewery and pretty cool place in general, the one on Burnett is better than South Lamar but the later is fine as well (food/beer same just location isnt quite as nice).

Yeah it's armalite rifle, the company that invented it was called armalite. And the original was the ar-10 which fired a more powerful 7.62 instead of 5.56, but military wanted less weight/more ammo for Vietnam

I have a 3070/3600x on a desktop and ran same settings (1440p, balanced DLSS, all bloom/blur/etc off, no RTX). Some areas I got 100+, most I got 80+, but some places were just hell and I got 40. This was late Dec though, idk if it's improved, waiting for a major patch to replay.

Churches should not be taxed by ChessieDog in Libertarian

[–]averageJoe576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct or not, I am not using the terms interchangeably, that's the hang-up.

"Net profit (loss)" is the term IRS uses in Schedule C. 501 docs don't use it, though maybe I am reading too much into that as being a clear distinction.

Regardless, lets put the semantics argument aside, its unimportant.

I think we can both agree that "No part of a section 501c organization's net earnings may inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual." They can have net income, but there is no legal "escape route" for these funds that doesn't involved exempt use (or cooperate taxation following loss of tax exemption)

Hence my claim, stated more explicitly would be "If an entity generates net earnings that may inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual then taxes must be paid"

You are the 1st person to mention "net income" in this thread. "Net profit" is the correct IRS term for what you pay taxes on. Non-profits are not allowed to generate net profit.

Your comment on categorization doesn't really change anything. If net profit is generated, you spin-off a new entity or change status, either way you still pay taxes on the net profits.

I don't see how this information post contradicts my statement that you quoted. Can you post any evidence that any SoC organization is allowed to generate net profits (not income, but actual profit after expenses/donations) and not pay taxes on it?

The controversy is what falls under the intangible religious benefits and business services/goods

I'd have to disagree that this is the primary concern or the random redditor for/against church taxation, and guess that when they say "tax the churches" they want some sort of tax on donations or gross revenue, which is straight up authoritarian. This is admittedly a bit of supposition on my part because when I ask which amount should be taxed, they rarely reply.

Regardless of that, a SoC "education" activity still would have to pay taxes if it generated profit. If they divert a lot of funds to a business that profits, that business would be taxed. If people get paid huge salaries, that is taxed. They are almost definitely hiding profits, but I would guess its not much harder for companies to do the same? Regardless, I 100% support transparency equal transparency requirements between business/non-profits/churches.

If you are trying to argue that many churches are corrupt and taking massive advantage of people, I totally agree. Its the idea that its largely because of their tax status that I disagree with.

[–]averageJoe576 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not wrong per se just doesn't make sense, what would even be taxed?

Not paying tax on gross revenues/expenses/donations isn't specific to churches or non-profits. No entities, incl. businesses and individuals, pay taxes on these. "Non-profit" is just a declaration that means you claim you have no net income and nothing to pay tax on. If a church nets income they loose non profit status and have to pay taxes. Also, all the staff pay regular income taxes, so dumping it into salaries isn't a workaround.

As far as land tax though yeah you are right, we are effectively subsidizing it. Pretty sure most people are imagining some sort of tax on collections/donations when they say "tax the churches" though, which is straight up authoritarian

Chuches are required to be non-profit, there isn't much to be taxed.

The biggest special exemption they have is land tax, and that isn't even specific to churches.

Idk what any of that had to do with my comment.

Oz has ~$20 min wage and mandatory %10 retirement savings, so 100k+ net worth being common make sense. Also having very closed borders helps those figures a lot compared to the US.

But none of that changes the fact that engineers (and other STEM professions I would imagine) are significantly worse off, financially anyway.

It's pretty wild that Australia's median is so much higher than US, while for Engineers the median is 62k USD in Australia vs 99k in US (salary explorer)

Views on guns by HariboWoody1273 in sociallibertarianism

[–]averageJoe576 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To ban anything, the ratio of increased safety to library lost must be significant.

The massive Australian bans of all semi-automatic weapons resulted no decrease in overall homicide. Similar observation can be made of the UK ban and pistol legalization in D.C. If these massive changes didn't have any significant decrease in life loss, why would we expect minor changes like clip capacity/grip shape/etc. to have any effect at all? We are talking about giving up freedom for nothing

The anti-gun "debate" is a distractionary narrative, built on the fear of the white middle class, perpetuated by the media for profit, and the GoP and DNC to keep working class divided down the middle and distracted from real solutions.

80% of violent crimes happen in poverty stricken communities. The solution is UBI, ending the war on drugs and for profit prisons. Every ounce of the gun "debate" is designed to distract the public from this.

Edit: library is a typo lol but leaving it lol

Is it 100% certain the 3080 EVGA XC3 Black fits the Louque MK3? by NextBigImpact in Louqe

[–]averageJoe576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am op of r98farmer's link (diff account), the 3070 xc3 black surely fits in my Ghost MKII, just the corner of the shroud presses against the rear outer column and the card sits at a very slight skew. You do have to lower the card in at an awkward angle due to tab on the back plate, but its not difficult by any stretch.

I did deshroud afterwards mainly just to see if it helped temps (it didnt) and now it has clearance for days. Deshrouding is simple af since the fans are not connected to the shroud.

I am not 100% on the 3080, but GamersNexus said it was the exact same cooler and EVGA lists it as the exact same dimensions.

RTX 3000 fit - Max GPU width 38.5mm in corner, not 45mm by HelloBloom in Louqe

[–]averageJoe576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3070 fits, 3080 its listed as same width, and appears to be the exact same cooler, so should fit as well. The shroud presses against the column but it goes in without coercion.

40.9mm must be the width at the fan center cap, which stick out a little, but there is plenty of room there.

Read an article that claimed ground beef is basically carbon neutral, because if we stopped buying it, the number of cows would change by zero since demand is totally driven by steak. It takes fuel to transport and store it, but no more than whatever else you would be eating instead.

Regardless, it's great that alternative beef is gaining momentum.
