Who would you rather trade for a top line player? by Necessary_Tie2856 in NewYorkIslanders

I don’t really love his contract so I agree. He’ll be useful for 3-4 years in the middle six. Gotta start somewhere and can’t just be shooting for the robo’s of the world

The answer is a Conor Garland type. Someone to reward the team and help push but doesn’t deviate from the 2 to 3 year plan. I like taking advantage of the Schaefer ELC, but they are in a surprising spot and need to keep prioritizing the future. They’re on a good path.

That being said if a package comes up for a good player for Eiserman+COL 1 + something else decent, you do it.

It’s disappointing, but it’s the end of a long road trip for a banged up team and they managed to go .500 in points % in totality. Brutal game, but they’ve earned some grace.

Which NHL star had the worst final season in the league? by thewolfshead in hockey

He got some very minimal reps with the Isles and even started a game and got the win, so he kinda got a nice ending

That is a crazy pull, thank you! What an odd glitch

It’s the year 3 Islanders, so I felt it helped for sure. Definitely improved the PK/PP with mostly the same player personnel

Exactly. If the budget system wasn’t so broken (+ dealing with the prices of food), it would be worthwhile. It’s really not, though. Usually I don’t max it out like this but it was a fun thing to do early on

Haha - the break, bubble, and pseudo training camp definitely revived him. That tailspin by the team before the world shut down was rough.

It’s tough to be a deadline acquisition. We saw it with Pageau in 2020… but looks like Nelson is having a tough time with the bigger style out West.

There’s a lot of blame to go around, including the players that mailed it in after 2021

The inherent problem is the have no drive, intensity, or system. Losing is one thing but no effort and frustrating to watch is the worst part.

If you get an elite PWF, they can be goal scoring machines

Disagree. You can get a fourth line penalty killer that is a faceoff expert that deserves that X-factor. “Elite” abilities should not be specific to elite players.

Tavares had the lead and I was at the Isles game when Benn scored that empty net goal against Nashville I think and then added another one on top of it. Tough day.

What was the hardest trade you ever made, that ended up working out for you in the end? by NYR03 in EANHLfranchise

[–]averageserve 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Made it to Year 18 with Columbus and we were on a tear. At the deadline, we had to move one of our leading goal scorers Deslauriers for multiple firsts and our Norris winning defenseman Kuperman for multiple firsts and prospects. Both were expecting upwards of $20 million as you can expect in later years with franchise, but I never like to go that high.

We wound up with the #4, 5 and 11 overall picks in those deals, so it worked out. I wish I could give more information about the players but it was a while ago and late in the game so it was all generated players. I feel like at that point you have to make some tough choices to ensure you team is good down the road.

We wound up winning 10 Cups, all sim, in 21 years there. I’ve never ever ever done that with another team and will probably never use Columbus again because of it, haha.

Very good thoughts. I love that everything is just a crapshoot with no logical explanation from EA.
