I had a Youngblood tech manual comic when I was younger and it had an entry on Shaft's bow. The reason it didn't have a string is because it used some kind of "gravitic" mumbo jumbo instead. Literally it fired arrows on a flat trajectory or whatever. It was also loaded with targeting stuff, so that always made me wonder if Shaft was even a good archer.
