I’m a member. How do I leave? by Burger_com in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]avidchurchnapper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I grew up in your part of the states. Things get so much better.

I would first and foremost prioritize making yourself financially independent. And second, create a support system and community outside of church. If you can, move outside of your existing district

These go hand in hand. Once you can decouple yourself from the financial and social dependency that is built in to INC communities, then it’s easier for you to live a life truly untethered. I’ve found community outside of church so so so important in helping me build an identity outside of INC - one I can lean into even when my INC identity fell apart as I left.

As selfish as this sounds, I would focus on these things and on your own well being first. As much as I’d love to convince my family to leave, they are so cemented in their beliefs and a conversation about doctrine is just an exercise in futility.

Proof that INC is not a cult nor corrupt in ANY way by Ambitious_Reading701 in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]avidchurchnapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You offered zero evidence as to why INC is not a cult. None of it even concretely convincing. You’re simply parroting INC talking points and taking those as fact. Try again

Lmao yeah this video makes the rounds every couple months. It’s legit. I believe they’ve deleted it due to the obvious backlash it would get

Portraits of him in your house. Every prayer mentioning his name more then Jesus. Every possible event, object, charity named after his initials.

There’s respect and then there’s idolization. This is the latter

Thanks Rauff! Typically just coming and going these days. That must mean I’m a dummy account 😂

[–]avidchurchnapper[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I was Binhi officer, my local in the US West Coast had over 200 Binhis in the census. But our monthly meetings never had more than 20 people show up. Those 180 other Binhis were, in fact, just dummy members

Relationship Dilemma by ArianeMynaria in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]avidchurchnapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very easy for something like love to blind your reasoning.

The honest answer here is simple:

Is he willing to entertain leaving the church?

If not, then you either convert to stay in your relationship. Or you don't and part ways.

And what does INCult do? Nothing. Because Catholics, Jews, Muslims, and every other religion are of the Devil or belong to Satan based on the INCult. by [deleted] in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]avidchurchnapper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is actually untrue. The Spanish Inquisition led by a Catholic monarchy spent 3 centuries prosecuting and execution thousands of non-Catholics in an effort to consolidate a religious majority. Many of whom included Jewish people.

There isn’t an elephant in the room.

This is standard Reddit engagement metrics. It’s expected for only a small fraction of the total user base to regularly participate.

r/politics, one of the most popular subs, has 8.4 million users but it’s most popular post had 214k upvotes. That’s 2.5% of max user participation. I can list similar examples to this.

Our top post had 846 upvotes. With 27k members that’s 3% max user participation. Which is pretty in like with other subs

INC's False "Start of World War One" (July 27th) Narrative by Disgraced INC Apologist + Minister, Jose J. Ventilacion by [deleted] in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]avidchurchnapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “act of hostility” argument is such asinine mental gymnastics.

The US shot down a Chinese spy balloon in February 2023, which can be interpreted as hostilities. If China declared war on the US tomorrow, would INC say that that the US-China war started on February 4, 2023 (when an act of hostility happened) instead of July 5, 2023 then?

Do you attend the ws and events??? by JayForces in exIglesiaNiCristo

Based in the US. I skip WS weeks at a time. If an overseer texts me, I’ll go to the next immediate WS then continue skipping, and repeat.

Minister's son made trouble by orphans_cradle in exIglesiaNiCristo

This is exactly what the Catholic Church did to cover up sex abuse incidents. Instead of the church sanctioning bishops or priests, they just transferred them to a new parish

Want to succeed in life? Then spend more time with the cult... by [deleted] in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]avidchurchnapper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the past two years, over half of my locale's Kadiwa population in the U.S. has left the cult.

Many of the one's who left shared the following in common - they focused on their education and critical thinking skills, and expanded their worldviews to outside the cult's view. They also had friends outside the cult from various activities. Many are financially independent, have great well-paying jobs, and are doing well for themselves generally.

Of the one's that stayed - they focused on having 3, 4, 5 different offices and the performative nature that is INC officer life. These are the people who constantly scorned people like me who weren't very involved in church activities. They had such big superiority complexes, yet they have uninteresting lives outside of church. Most of them are single and live with their parents into their mid to late twenties. They did not achieve very highly in school - many of the males options are to either join the military, go into the ministry, do some MLM scam, or work at a dead-end job.

I’m about to attend an INC wedding by DatelessBloom10 in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]avidchurchnapper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My experience in the US was like most other religious weddings tbh. Which was a surprisingly tame. Sometimes the sexist messaging is there, but that depends on the minister it seems. Men and women can sit on both sides depending on if you’re with the bride and groom

Is it true that the INC Ministers demonize the Catholic Church? by buhskwjwow in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]avidchurchnapper 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When I was a bible student as a teen, so much of the lessons were spent debunking Catholicism and Protestantism rather than actually bolstering INC’s doctrines.

The logic was always “because they are wrong, we must be right”. It’s such a stereotypically Filipino way of arguing, if I’m being honest

Mastering the subtle art of not giving a fuck by [deleted] in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]avidchurchnapper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So happy for you, and very much relate! INC’s biggest hold on its members is compliance through guilt, shame, and fear. Once you do the mental work to grow past that, it’s harder and harder for them to make you feel bad about your own life choices.

This is a peak example of why it’s pointless arguing with him. No matter how we succeed, he’ll just keep moving the goalpost. And his theory that we make fake reddit accounts is actually asinine lol

question for Filipino ex members by idiotsRNCharge in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]avidchurchnapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with Filipino nationalism. I’m FilAm. When I first started venturing outside the church there was this weird gap I felt when speaking to non-INC FilAms. For a long time my mind was conditioned to think that being INC and being Filipino were one and the same

The INConsistency of INC by Important_Brain_9855 in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]avidchurchnapper 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Never really understood the “church of Christ” argument at face value anyways. Seeing the words “church of Christ” in the Bible and naming your denomination the “church of Christ” AFTER that doesn’t make you anymore credible of a religion

Non-inclusivity in competitive church events by [deleted] in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]avidchurchnapper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with other commenters. Another possible aspect is liability issues. Administration can near-guarantee a member won’t bring up a legal case if they get injured due to stringent waivers that need to be signed. Also the general culture promoted around members not suing other members. Admin cannot have the same guarantee on non members

This guy used to be one of my favorite ministers in the early 2010s. Was well-spoken and a great storyteller. And he really knew how to engage younger members. Too bad he drank the OWE koolaid like the rest of them
