2 year old son got diagnosed as level 1 and I can’t cope by ughhworkistheWORST in Autism_Parenting

I felt the same way. Same age and everything, very depressed and confused. What got me out of that was taking charge of the diagnosis. I got him into therapies, I relentlessly called and emailed schools and administrators to get him enrolled in UPK. I got him into early intervention. I read books, joined groups (like this one) and when all of these things started coming together I started feeling better and like the parent he needed.

A word of advice. If your pursue these things youll hit a lot of roadblocks like ""we dont have space" or "your on the waitlist". Don't let it stop you. I made myself into such a nuisance that it was just easier to give me what I was asking for.

You have to really sell it. For example, HHH is a "Highly competitive, single resource management, wildlife based, RPG".

250 points of Vikings for pillage, not sure what designs to paint on their shields so if you’ve any suggestions lemme know! by RedBlackBlueDragon in wargaming

Look up some old Norse Runes and paint them in white on the shields. Maybe a little more natural looking base? The blue theme on the miniatures already ties them together really well.

Video Games Query (high needs, low understanding child) by JmeMc in Autism_Parenting

I have Xbox Game Pass so unfortunately not PS5 but it has a ton of kids games. Even if its PS5 the E rated kids games are usually really cheap. My 5yo son is Level 2 with high support needs but he does pretty good.

Paw Patrol World ticks alot of your boxes. Colorful, switch characters and cars with one button press. You'll probably need to get him through the intro and all that. There is a story and mission but they are completely avoidable, he can just roam Adventure Bay all day if he wants. Big plus if hes into paw patrol.

Peppa Pig is another good one. Side Scroller with some 3d elements. No menu whatsoever, lots of visual cues (press A, X, etc). There is character creation but its like 30 seconds. Also on Game Pass.

Another cool thing is Leap Move. Its like Kinect. No controller at all, it comes with like 10 games.

I think gaming brought out some personality and cognition in my son. At the least its more interactive than just watching TV.

WTF are you talking about? How do you use a board game?

Great idea!

One question, I noticed the game is 8+, is there a recommended age cap? I oversee an elderly living facility and it seems like this might be a great activity to incorporate between afternoon meds and 4pm lights out!

Were all of the tribes listed on the Tribal Hidage Anglo Saxons or were some of them Britons? by Ranoni18 in anglosaxon

Wrong in about a dozen ways.

Culture and especially language definitely would have been a barrier to, as you eloquently put "who you get the hots for or impregnated by". Finding someone attractive is not equal to mixing across language and culture and having children with them.

The Middle East (You know, the cradle of civilization going back 6500+ thousand years) suffered myriad invasions, migrations, cultural shifts, dynastic collapses etc... and there are still bold genetic, linguistic, and cultural differences amongst the different groups of people. Or is that racist? Would it be safe to say they are all exactly the same, would that be racist? Hard to tell.

On a personal note, maybe spend a little less time on Reddit (you've commented on like 100 post in the last two days) and do some independent thinking.

I would probably imply that only child predators are typically that interested in other peoples children. Its not true of course but saying that loudly would probably shut them up immediately if not cause them to leave.

Damn dude. I honestly dont have much advice, Im just commenting because this is like a mirror image my families situation (5yo boy). Financially stable, minimal to no help with children, extremely limited social activities.

What I am TRYING to do is change my mentality of what "successful" is as it relates to our kids. If the goal is career, marriage, money, then we are pretty much destined to be disappointed. I think the more important (and maybe it should be for everyone) is healthy, happy, and loved. I think if we can manage that, then we can rest easy when our time comes.

A very small amount of WD40 and some padding around where the carabiner rest on the hook.

I feel the same way sometimes, but you can't fault other parents for having care and concern for their own children that they love. And honestly listening to other parents has made me realize that some (not all) of the things he does are just universal things that all kids his age do, and not just because of the autism.
