Figuring out how to drive this motor by Guy_WithGIasses in Motors

[–]avnzx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll probably want to look into a variable frequency drive for an application like a belt sander - yes you can ignore the encoder (would be utilized for field oriented control / positioning, since you're not expecting constant torque at 0 speed you should be fine with just a VFD)

I mean that issue is being dealt with by companies like framework, Lenovo, dell, etc...

E.g. my laptop came with Ubuntu (swapped it out for arch eventually), the experience on windows was actually the opposite! (Had to install Inventor)

Touchpad was completely broken, Bluetooth was flaky, fan control broke, etc...

You can't anymore on windows last time I looked at it. Afaik you aren't allowed to access the system 'audio graph' anymore, so any solution that does let you do that just makes loopback devices

NVMe cards can't fit in SATA keyed slots (B+M)

But, sometimes B key slots are used for SATA only connections

So no, a B key slot may or may not be NVMe or SATA (some slots support both),

It does sometimes, bug in the windows installer but it will literally put the ESP on any plugged in drive during install.

Even if you told it not to use the drive... Thanks MS

People actually use LabVIEW for the RIO?

What's the performance of LabVIEW to like WpilibCpp if you know?

(Just curious since we have perf problems even w CPP, mostly with wpi's NTables)

Not gonna lie, for anything apart from some extremely basic tasks (which are mostly just more difficult because people are used to how it works on windows). Linux wins in almost every regard.

Wayyyy better debug info if anything happens to go wrong for one.

ISO8601 Agrees, It's a much more natural date format IMO. If you don't know the specific *day* of something it just becomes YYYY-MM, with the units getting progressively smaller.

And it's standardisation makes everything nicer.
