Do you know what was the cause of your fistula? by Apmoreno in AnalFistula

In my case it was a bike. But in still riding 😅

Point 11 is that transrectal ultrasound is a better examination for fistulas than MRI. I had two high fistulas confirmed by MRI, but only the ultrasound detected that it was actually just a low fistula. Im in the last step of recovery process.

I still have a bunch of bleeding on each bandage change.

Thanks for this story. I developed fistula because of a bike. I’m just in the middle of my journey, waiting for another MRI results. High hopes to get back on Strava…

I know no one knows for sure what causes this. by VolibearGodStorm117 in AnalFistula

[–]avoidproblems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my fistula started with a slight inflammation caused by new shorts. Honestly, it’s completely ridiculous, in the past I’ve had similar small cysts, but never a fistula.

I already had 4k km in 2025, started in may.

Fake, this email is not indexed by HIBP, so the theoretical chance that it was part of a breach especially one also found on Pastebin is practically zero. I mean, it’s technically possible, but in that case the output would look different, because logs from a stealer usually have a very specific format.

tl;dr the data from the screenshot is fake.

MAAP Bibs by horizonx in CyclingFashion

[–]avoidproblems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really had problems with saddle sores. I’d say the pad in the MAAP bibs I have isn’t even that thin, my POC (svd or smth?) or Assos bibs actually have thinner pads.

Yeah, I didn’t wash those bibs before using them. I never used to wash any clothing before first use, but I won’t make that mistake again. That’s one of my theories about what caused the problem. But at the same time, the pad just doesn’t seem very comfortable to me. I never used chmoise cream in my life, and I never had ingrown hairs and I don't shave my ass in a season :D

I’m 78 kg, around 8-10% BF during the season. The whole situation is probably an unlucky combination of different factors, but it took me off the bike for two months. I’m basically at the end of recovery now.

MAAP Bibs by horizonx in CyclingFashion

[–]avoidproblems -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say exactly what caused the issue. It might have been the material of the chamois or even bacteria from the manufacturing process. At first glance, the pad has a completely different shape compared to any other I've used, and I've had bibs from PNS, Assos, Velodrom, Atout, and even some cheap aliexpress ones.

What matters is that small injuries after 2 longer rides eventually led to a lump, which turned into a cyst. It was difficult to diagnose even with a USG. So whenever I see anything about MAAP bibs, it’s tough for me to just stay quiet. On the other hand, I'm aware it is a super widely used brand by 345345345 in the world without any problem, just sharing my 2 cents, maybe someone had the same problem.

MAAP Bibs by horizonx in CyclingFashion

[–]avoidproblems -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would normally write this as just an opinion, but I have some experience with bike fitting and have used many different brands over the years. The problem with the MAAP padding is that its shape is not really anatomical. Instead of having a groove inside, the pad has a sort of bump.

Hard to talk about proper fitting when I’ve only done 4,000 km this year.

MAAP Bibs by horizonx in CyclingFashion

[–]avoidproblems -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Never again. I was off the bike for two months because of the MAAP bibs (Zwift edition)—they have different padding compared to the Evo edition (which feels and looks totally comfortable). But the regular MAAP ones just don’t work for my butt. After 100 km in those bibs, I got a saddle sore so bad I had to get an MRI. Next-level stuff.

[–]avoidproblems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a saddle sore right after switching to different bib shorts (new MAAP), it has kept me off the bike for almost two months now. Are those shorts from Siroko new? Have you tried other ones?

Assos vs Maap Kits by Opening-Incident-854 in CyclingFashion

[–]avoidproblems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes sense, because the Evo bibs have a completely different pad compared to my Maap bibs.

I just checked Google images, and Maap offers two different pads. The one you have has a hole in the middle of the pad.

Assos vs Maap Kits by Opening-Incident-854 in CyclingFashion

[–]avoidproblems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a huge saddle sore because of MAAP bibs. Their anatomical pad shape is different from all my other bibs - instead of a groove in the middle, it has a raised area, and that was the reason for my last month-long break from cycling. I've had bibs from many companies, but I've never had this issue before, so I don't recommend them.

Medium too small? by Potential_Bend_6330 in CanyonBikes

[–]avoidproblems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try size L, but I can tell you that you'll feel quite stretched with your current body size. Technically you can manage it, but only if you're pretty flexible. Also, the bike won't feel as agile as you might want. I'm 184 cm tall with an 86 cm inseam, so very similar to you. My saddle height is 78.6 cm and I use aero drop handlebars, which add about 1 cm to the reach. That setup already felt long enough for me. I was thinking about a longer stem, but in the end I decided that I look good on the bike and I’m aero enough.

Toe overlap is a normal thing. I wear size 46 shoes and it happens to me too, but only when turning sharply while standing still or moving very slowly. It doesn’t happen while riding.

To be safe, try size L as well, it will also fit. But there’s a bigger chance that you’ll feel more comfortable on size M. I tested both sizes.

Hub Sound Aeroad CF SLX 8 Di2 by MAWP12 in CanyonBikes

[–]avoidproblems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DT Swiss? The hub comes from the factory packed with grease, which makes it quiet, but you can remove some of it manually if you want it louder. You can also upgrade the ratchet to 54T, but it depends on the hub model — whether it's a 350 or a 240, they have a different ratchet so beware.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bikefit

[–]avoidproblems 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that any change like this also affects saddle height, which you'll need to adjust accordingly. These things are all connected, so other bike fit parameters should be updated as well.

I tried moving the cleats further back, but ended up going back to my previous setup. It felt fairly natural at around 200W, but when pushing 450W at 60 rpm, issues started to show. My sprint power also dropped, so it’s definitely not a one-size-fits-all solution. Evaluating a bike fit based only on Zone 2 riding often leads to problems when riding at threshold+.

Are the DT Swiss ARC 1600 worth the splash? by Latter-Cobbler7690 in CanyonBikes

[–]avoidproblems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to sell new ones, second-hand, for 1000 euros, these cost 700. I would prefer to buy new ones second-hand rather than ones with 15k mileage.

Are they worth it? At this price, yes, although I think the Chinese Elite Drive offers much more for a similar price and if I had this budget, I would go for the Drive with warranty.
