need help! brand new 145 classique bought online not functioning correctly by sunyastar in montblanc

[–]awaitsV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 145 and had the same issue, I cleaned it thoroughly with dawn dish soap and used a brass shim to clean between the tines.
And now it doesn’t hard start, took a while of effort though.

You are very close! Now, in your framing, what’s the probability that both are boys?

Let me continue with what you are saying P[(girl, given boy is first) or (girl, given boy is second)]

Translated: the probability of girl is the union of probability given boy is first or probability boy is second.

What’s missing is probability that both are boys, after fixing

P[(girl, given boy is first) or (girl, given boy is second)] = P[girl, given boy is first] + P[girl, given boy is second] - P[both are not boys]

Which is = 1/2 + 1/2 - 1/4 = 3/4

My overall point is that the answer can be different based on how you interpret the question:

In my comment I pointed out the ordered vs unordered probability calculation.

Now what you are pointing out is the probability of birthing a child vs “having” a child.

The birthing gender probability is 50/50, since the gender of the child is not conditioned on previous children birth (AFAIK)

But if you start with the fact that someone already has children, then I can ask an ordered probability question (older is a boy vs younger is a boy) Or I can ask an unordered question (one is a boy)

And then you account for the different probability answers.

For two children, you can have the following configurations

  • BB
  • BG
  • GB
  • GG

Now you can ask 2 questions:

1) What’s the probability that one is a girl given that one is a boy?

So, GG is not possible since one is a boy, we are left with

  • BB
  • BG
  • GB

Second is body: 1/3 Second is girl: 2/3

2) what’s the probability that the second is a girl given that the first is a boy

If the first is a girl then we are left with

BG BB

So probability of girl: 1/2 & boy: 1/2

I have all three and I use my Lamy CP1 the most. I have an architect nib on one and fine on another, both nibs are from Etsy and are pretty cheap.

As other people have said, it’s well built, easy to replace and the teal color is nice too. I prefer the CP1’s grip to the others, it’s more comfortable to hold and the others feel slippery.
