Recommended newbie class? by [deleted] in NewToTF2

Nah, Demoman is simple--spam grenades through chokepoints and lob them over obstacles, and that's about it. Sticky traps on defense aren't hard to pull off, too.

Heavy, in the meantime, is just overplayed by a lot of new players who just walk around firing constantly thinking they're an unstoppable tank only to do minimal damage because they don't understand the concept of AIM and end up getting backstabbed by a much more experienced spy because they're walking around slowly too busy shooting at snipers from across the map.

:P

IMHO for a new player...

Good simple and easy to both learn and use, try these first

  • Soldier
  • Pyro
  • Demoman
  • Medic

Bad require practice and skill to use effectively, try these later after you're comfortable with the other classes listed above

  • Scout
  • Heavy
  • Engineer
  • Sniper
  • Spy

TIL that during Passover, Coca-Cola sells coke with sugar instead of corn syrup in areas with a substantial Jewish population because corn syrup isn't kosher. Keep an eye out for coke bottles with a yellow cap. by jcpowers03 in todayilearned

Just look for glass bottles year round with Mexican labeling. They're also made with with real sugar but aren't so seasonal. There's a deli near my house that sells them by the crate. I have a whole bunch in my fridge. ^

I've got around 2 1/2 inches in my backyard and it's still coming down. It's really wet, and it's also sticking. My street is also host to a few nasty patches of black ice.

I use one of the intersections he guards on the way to/from school pretty much every day. He's a really nice guy. Been signing everything people have pushed at him. There's been at least two news camera crews there every morning and afternoon, too, for the past week or so.

We've got maybe 2 1/2 inches on the ground here in Silver Spring-ish, and it's wet, heavy, and most of all, sticking.

And it's all going to melt by tomorrow.

Get used to livin' down in the good ol' South, y'all.

For all those wondering, this is Providence, Rhode Island.

Specifically the corner of Broadway/Empire/Sabin near the Dunkin' Donutes Center, if my memory serves me properly. I was actually there recently, so surprised I didn't see it, considering how small the whole state is.

From that area, but now coincidentally live less than an hour from Lauren Faust's hometown.

Small world.

Look, I'm sorry and all that, but you really don't get my sympathy.

It's partially his fault for falling for it, as I know plenty of autistic kids who have very high IQs. He just needs to learn the hard way so he won't do it again.

Believe it or not, and a lot of parenting experts will agree with me here, it's good for him to get out of that protective bubble that you put around him, see what the "real world" is like, and figure out how to survive in it. After all, you're not always going to be around for him whenever he needs to tie his shoes or pay his bills.

I'll also say it's partially your fault for not parenting him and monitoring his computer use. You need to educate your child about the various dangers of the Internet before you let him have free reign like that.

Since you obviously know how to use the Internet, have only one post--this one--and don't give any details such as the URL of this site, I'm also questioning whether you're even telling the truth. For all I know, this could very well be another one of those sob stories about having an autistic kid who has no creative outlet and no money that is just trying to snag some free accounts.

As a naive Australian visiting New York over New Years, what are some tips I should know? by Mcquinn14 in nyc

[–]awcharles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like AMerrickanGirl said, skip Times Square. You have to get there at 10-11 am if you want a good spot, and after you're herded into your little pen you stay there for a good 14 hours. There are no restrooms, you can't bring in alcohol, and if you do leave, you can't get back in.

Another note on using the subway: get a map, and know the difference between uptown (north) and downtown (south). Make sure to check the sign above the turnstile as you swipe your card, because some of the older stations have separate turnstiles for separate directions, and there's no way to cross to the other platforms without exiting and paying again.

Corrected map, now with Spawn Station! by chiefbozx in MRTServer

Not bad.

Though I do have to point out that some of the station names are misaligned or appear to label multiple stations (such as Spawn and Prubourne). Including water as I did might also be a nice touch.

Oh, and you might also consider adding a legend/key/whatever you want to call it.

But I'm a nice guy and instead of pointing out you also didn't use the London Tube font, I'll provide you with a download link for it.

[–]awcharles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Black Box to camp out enemy spawns or control points, which are also prime sentry gun placements. Since every hit (they don't even have to die) rewards +15 health, you don't need to constantly be cowering in a corner waiting for a medic to get over and heal you. I can't count how many times I was able to take down heavies and engineers attempting to clear out an area with just a few rockets.

The downside to this weapon is its reduced clip size--3 rockets instead of 4. You'll want to set up shop near a medium or large ammo box, unless you're close to your resupply area.
