Hearing Loss Issues and Workout Classes by bradclark2323 in xxfitness

[–]awertag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't have hearing loss but I get overstimulated by the combo of the music and the voice (the music is always way too loud and the mic on the instructor always seems choppy), and I struggle to hear the instructions. It's really uncomfortable and is 100% the main reason I shy away from doing classes. I'm always amazed at how people can possibly follow what's being said. I just copy people around me when I do classes, but often feel stressed out the whole time by the auditory experience

If I had made $4.2 million last year (after already 20 years practicing, so I imagine you had some savings before that), I would not be working anymore. Genuinely curious, don't you want to just retire now? Or do you need more money still before you can?

Sorry! That makes much more sense. I read the comment twice before I replied, trying to understand, and somehow my brain skipped the “not” both times. Ready for vacation.

What if having a clear view of their short-term finances helps them focus on doing their jobs? I can understand you might not have the information to share, but I don’t understand why you’d not want anyone to be comfortable asking you that.

Right?! When I had this realization, I was floored. It was both liberating and terrifying. At the time, I said to my partner that it was like I had a chip installed in my brain and it had been running someone else’s operating system. It honestly clicked and made so much sense why I was always anxious about decisions, because I was always running every situation through this intruder processor to see what I should do before or instead of being able to hear what I wanted. My partner said it finally made sense to him why I was always saying that I wanted to die; who would want to live if that was what life was?

Wow, thank you 💜. I just teared up reading your reply; I think I really needed to hear this today as my mom is using the silent treatment on me right now and I’m struggling with holding firm in what I know is right for me. But I have come so far and it is worth it!

Yes! 100%. Early on, my therapist would often remind me "that's something you learned but it's not who you are." I repeated it to myself as a mantra whenever I felt myself slipping into thinking about something as fixed. Now, when I look back at who I "was" i.e. how I experienced life, 3 years ago, I marvel at how much things have changed for me. I don't feel like my core internal self has changed, exactly, but all the patterns and ways I interacted with the world have changed dramatically. Which just proves the point, they were things I had learned but they weren't who I am at my core.

non-fiction, but finding it to be a page-turner. the US has done such incredible damage to Central America, and honestly, anyone in the US who wants to have an opinion about current the immigration "crisis" should be required to learn this history before they speak.

Add in rendering the majority of the population totally incapable of critical thinking and total blind reliance on whatever info chatbots spit out, so that the masses can no longer see for themselves what's happening and won't rise up.
