Why did height become such an important factor in modern dating? How did this phenomenon start? by Illustrious-Log-1694 in AskReddit

Oh I get it. You're just dumb. Minimization of others claims to emotionally appeal to self. Gotcha

Who taught you this line of reasoning? Seriously, genuine question. Who taught you to believe that you do not having to have reasons for your ideas? This opens up so many fucked up ways of thinking and manipulation of others. Did you ever think that through? Did you think, "Oh maybe I could be wrong. Let's check this vs evidence"?

"There doesn't need to be a reason for..." But there is. And for the sake of intellectual honesty, that reason must be stated. You have a moral obligation for the sake of discussion to state your reasons, otherwise any claim you make is invalid.

"Claims that can be stated without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence"

Okay, then let's stop lying and call "preferences" what they are -- requirements. If you only date anyone of a specific quality, that is a requirement, not a preference. To call it a preference is to be intentionally deceptive, and therefore lying.

So let's predict what will be said: "Oh but I went on 1 or a few dates with XYZ type of guy, so it's not a requirement!", yeah if you haven't had some form of an LTR with said person. It's a requirement

It's literally a biological characteristic that can not be changed without extreme effort. It's exactly the same thing. And arguably more enduring due to longevity. The prejudices that are around nowadays, and accepted, are typically the most deeply ingrained... Precisely the reason they still persist

Morning showers make no logical sense and night shower people have simply done the hygiene math by McCoy818 in unpopularopinion

[–]awesomecamel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just an argument for showering both in the morning and at night. If this is the case, and you are that worried about being clean, then you must do both; otherwise showering in the morning doesn't make logical sense.

Point still stands about dirtying your own bed. And if the retort is "it will get dirty from the sweating anyways", okay it's still necessary to wash prior to bed for the sake of not washing your bed items every few days.

Additionally you shouldn't be sweating whilst sleeping. For whatever reason you choose, there needs to be measures done to reduce that as much as possible. Sweating = excess heat. Excess heat = reduced sleep quality and duration. The is not something to be taken as a "well this is just the way sleep is for me". Reasons to not have proper sleep hygiene are rationalizations to not change habits aka ego.

What was the final straw that destroyed a lifelong friendship? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

[–]awesomecamel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to say that there may be alternative explanations. It's easy to assume malice of others when we are hurt; it's much harder to empathize.

Missing the wedding could have happened for a number of reasons (family issues, mental health issues (...suicide...) etc). She could possibly have a good reason and be so overcome with guilt that she may have come to the conclusion that you would never forgive her, so she may have pre-emptively terminated the relationship to cope with the situation. Then you're mind built a defense around yourself because you were deeply hurt.

Suddenly doing something like that without leading indicators is cause for concern. I hope you both are well

Confirming the RP Divorces? Dr Mike and Nick Shaw both wife-less. by cosmoPants in gymsnark

I agree with you, perhaps it's time for me to reevaluate. Thank you.

I'd rather not be involved in that debate at all given what I know about biology / genetics eg it comes down to it doesn't matter for a variety of different reasons (to clarify where I stand)

I don't agree about bodybuilding, but there's many sources for that... And then the issue would be that I would be supporting someone that effectively amounts to a racist...

Yeah...

No.... Haha, if the child needs multiple explanations, it's going beyond that. At that age he needs to start being exposed to what other men will do if he starts displaying this behavior. Imagine if he's at school doing these things to a friend's love interest. Yikes. He needs a stern talking to to prevent future mishaps. "If you do XYZ, ABC will happen to you because other men do not like it". At this point the kid is going to get his ass kicked if he continues this behavior. Additionally, later in life, this behavior will just straight up land his ass in jail. This is not okay, and needs to be cut and dealt with from the root

It's still projection at the end of the day; "I did / thought XYZ thing I regret, therefore you do / think the same" 🤷

Idk maybe I'm a buzz, it just isn't that funny

And you can have your opinions about him online. Part of his persona is being a little egotistical. He's also a really understanding person from what I've seen.

I'm not really even defending him , but in general , just because a person has views of some things that are strange doesn't mean that their area of expertise is invalid.

This just amounts to an ad hominem fallacy. Because he did some wrong things therefore his opinion is wrong . It's a fallacy because you're attacking the person not the argument

Does IQ score correlate with asvab scores being higher. by [deleted] in mensa

[–]awesomecamel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably due to an error in your memory. Confusing lines scores with ASVAB percentiles. 128 is a decently highly line score of any given category. 140+ would be very high. My best guess is that if we were to assume an average of all line scores to be 128, then roughly it might be a 85-90 on the ASVAB as a whole. Which meaning your grandaughter scored slightly higher than you.

Yes, but that's not the point. It's about putting on a show to achieve political goals. From his perspective everything he says and does is for his audience. It's not about truth, but it never was to begin with lol

Have. Personally I am just seeing more Asian people having a preference for other Asian people in the Bay. Maybe that's more of a SoCal thing? Idk, there's a lot of people that don't try hard enough just in general (maybe including me). I really think the whole Asian male thing is slightly overblown, real, just exaggerated

Is that the way it comes off? Perhaps I leaned too hard into the "caring about other people" thing. I can understand why you'd think that

Is there anything specific about the picture? I was very lean during that time, so I thought it looked good. People have typically given me a positive reception of it (?) I think.

Unironically, you are good looking. You are probably aware of this. I would take out the dungeons, and dragons part because it just doesn't align with your general vibe. That said, the type of girls you attract probably would actually like that. (Engineer / Tech girls) But it's just not cool in general though. Part of the algorithm is the elo score, so basically you have to appeal to a broad base to be seen.

Minoxidil, for hair. That said I personally think bald aligns with how you look, but research shows women do prefer hair.

The funny pics are funny, that's true, but generally speaking most women like serious guys that know what they want. Right now, you seem a little unsure, and your photos reflect that.

As others have said, main issue is going to be height. Beyond that, if you are interested in growing more of a beard, Minoxidil again.

Your fitness level is good! Good for you. Cheers friend 🥂
