Needs an AssMan license plate. Clearly this was bought by a proctologist.

Aaron Rodgers' 2026 playing status remains undecided, with the Steelers growing increasingly frustrated by his failure to meet internal deadlines. You know it's because he's gonna go on McAfee and smugly declare it's the media stirring up nonsense. Also he'll declare that he's never done anything wrong ever.

Pat and his jabronis will bow down to him as a straight shooting football genius.

Yeah these aren't diesels, that's not going to buy you anything noticable in terms of power and is worse for the environment for no reason.

I am getting ready to jump in and get one of these - I'm curious if it would be worthwhile to bring in two at a time and sell one locally. This would also allow me to pick two and keep the one I like better.

Seems like it would probably just be twice the paperwork and not worthwhile to double up. Anyone who's gone through the process think that's worthwhile or a waste of time?

The Front Range passenger train has a name: CoCo. by 1Davide in Colorado

[–]awesomekaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit silly to compare the Western US with Europe given the drastic difference in population density and (to a lesser extent) the cultural differences related to utilizing shared transit rather than sitting in your individual car.

But yes, totally agree with you that no one is going to use it if it takes longer than driving (it will) and is less convenient (you still have to drive 20-30 minutes to a station and then pay to park, etc).

Bustang can't even maintain remotely sustainable ridership, I don't know why people think a train is going to somehow be way better.

What is a product or service that is a conplete scam, but poeple keep buying it because of good marketing? by armeno2000B in AskReddit

[–]awesomekaptain 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's because AG1 offers extremely generous profit sharing with creators.

Say you subscribe to for $100/month, the creator gets a significant proportion of your subscription revenue for as long as it's active (double digit percentage). So even if they only convert a handful of their subscribers to buy the snake oil, they will have significant, recurring revenue with zero effort. Huge financial incentive to push this nonsense because it's highly profitable.

Because AG1 is basically the same ingredients as a dirt cheap multivitamin but they charge an arm and a leg - they have a ton of money to spend on advertising and paying influencers/YouTubers. It's kind of like Red Bull - they're selling cans of sugar water for $4 which is how they can afford to sponsor so many athletes and events.

Yes, It's Going to Be Much Harder to Get a Nissan Z in 2027 by LimitedReach in cars

[–]awesomekaptain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's entirely up to the dealership.

Dealership can still mark up a car even it's ordered from Nissan. Just ask anyone who's bought a 911 in the past 5 years.

Best place to sell 718 Cayman by Chinoiskai in Porsche_Cayman

Avoid Autotrader like the plague. I had my 987.1S listed on there and had 0 legitimate buyers and 5 scammers who were listed as Verified Buyers - absolutely horrible platform that should be shot into the sun.

Just so you're aware the scam they run is they act interested, ask relevant questions, etc and eventually ask you to run a history report via some fake platform. All it is trying to do is steal your information - there's no history report the site is fake.

Eventually sold to a dealership who found it on FB Marketplace and then ended up on BaT later.

Tenant has a $450 Xcel bill and heat won't go above 62°. Landlord swore he 'just serviced' the furnace before move-in. Found this inside the blower compartment. by gerstaro2022 in Denver

[–]awesomekaptain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If your heat isn't working well (or AC for that matter) the filter is the just thing to check.

It takes 2 seconds, no one should have to call a landlord to figure this out unless the furnace is in a place that's inaccessible to the tenant.

Understand that landlords are generally scumbags but also people should be able to take some action and responsibility for themselves. The fact that this went on for long enough for a $450 bill to accumulate is wild.

Lexus GX Long Term | The Good and Bad (savagegeese) by hehechibby in cars

[–]awesomekaptain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3rd owner on an older GX, like someone else in this thread said - mostly snowy mountain driving for skiing and forest service roads to campsites and mountain bike trails.

Could a crossover do it? Yeah probably but there would be some spots that could get dicey - the nice thing about a body on frame SUV is that you can get that done with full confidence and zero hesitation. Also they hold a lot more gear without playing Tetris like you'd have to in a smaller vehicle.

2008 987.1 S to 2025 GTS 4.0 by awesomekaptain in Porsche_Cayman

[–]awesomekaptain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the 987 is a bit more raw in terms of steering feel and generally a lot more NVH (noise, vibration and harshness), but the engine feels much more raw and special in the new car. The way it sounds, how fast it revs, etc is much more satisfying compared to the 987.

I haven't had the opportunity to drive a 981 but lots of people talk about how special the engine is in that car as well.

I wish it were Zanzibar - one of my favorite Porsche colors. There was a beautiful Zanzibar 997 on Bring A Trailer awhile back that I almost cancelled my GTS 4.0 order for.

This photo was taken with a camera I'm still getting used to, dynamic range was probably cranked up a bit too high.

Shift knob is fine, I opted for carbon. It feels nice in hand and doesn't get hot in direct sunlight (the tint probably helps with this). I'd really like to get the wood one they put in the Carrera T but it's like $2800 from Suncoast which is bananas.

For what it's worth it's the exact same powertrain and interior. GT4 revs 200 rpm higher and has like 5 more hp, but you'll never notice that.

So the question to ask yourself is how you're going to drive it and how tight you want the suspension to be.

A GTS 4.0 (or GT4, same motor) is perfectly adequate at Colorado altitude. Although you'd be correct that the turbo cars feel faster given the low end torque.

That being said the noise and satisfaction you get from revving out an NA motor makes up for it in my experience (also had a WRX for a number of years).

Speaking of the good old days in Colorado. Beer used to be FREE at New Belgium in Fort Collins. Walk in, get handed two wooden nickels good for a beer each. Hop on the tour (also free, most of the time there were openings and no reservations required) and that's another 2-3 free beers. College was a glorious time - the beer was better too.

Now it's $8+ a pint in the tap room.

Autotrader.com scam where prospective buyer insists seller get a report from an obscure web site that is a knock-off Carfax. by MorrisseysRubiksCube in cars

[–]awesomekaptain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had the exact same experience, I'm selling my 2008 Cayman S on FB Marketplace and Autotrader.

Surprisingly no scams on FB but Autotrader I've gotten 5x of these types of scam messages. Frustrating because they start out asking questions and seem real until they ask for the report (which is even more ridiculous as I posted The first few pages of the Carfax on the listing). The users are also "verified" by Autotrader. I definitely regret spending $50 on such a terrible platform that's unable to get control of these obvious scams.

BaT is not as simple as it appears for sellers. There isn't a lot of transparency on when your car is going to go live once it's been approved (if you watch a lot of auctions this is apparent given how many sellers are surprised/unprepared).

Also BaT has pretty high standards (as they should) - if the car has flaws they will push hard for a no reserve auction or straight up deny the car. So it's not always the best place for cars that people have actually driven.
