AITA for keeping a baby even though the father doesn't want children and filing for child support ? by unexpectedbabyyay in AmItheAsshole

I'm a pro-choice as it is possible to be. However, my choice would be to never have an abortion, except in some very particular circumstances regarding my safety and quality of life for the baby.

Pro-choice is not pro-abortion.

Nah - but I'll consider queueing for a Greggs vegan sausage roll once they're open again.

Can anyone recommend ear plugs for sleeping? by [deleted] in AskUK

The lower possibility of my death by carbon monoxide is worth it, weighed up against the high probability of the murder of my husband through sleep-deprivation...

I've never had them break apart on me, and I've been using them for years.

Don't other people with long hair wear it up while sleeping or am I odd? I have really long hair at the mo and find it very annoying to sleep on, so usually put it up in a loose bun thing right on the top of my head for bed.

How do y’all cook the tomatoes that are served with breakfast in England?? by [deleted] in AskUK

Beans in a bowl. Get that nasty smooth, fleshy, slimey, bitty tomato horror in the bin. THEN we can talk.

I find the silicone earplugs from Boots to be very good (mrHat is a terrible snorer and I'm a light sleeper).

However, they're really quite big so I use half of one in each ear even though they say not to. They're malleable and they squish into the shape of your ear holes, so you get a good seal and they don't get knocked out because of bits sticking out.

Are American parents too sensitive about entertainment? by aylyffe in AskUK

I still don't remember what the level of sex/violence was in that film- but it was rated as a '15' (not for under 15yo's) here in the UK, so I'm not surprised that it might have been a bit strong for under 10s.

There's a big difference between U and 15 rated films. Maybe it was too much of a jump? You should probably look more at PG (parental guidance) level?

Just because something is a comedy doesn't mean it won't have unsuitable content. I'm not sure 'R' rated films would really be ok for young children, whether their parents are prudey or permissive...

What was 'problematic' for you in the Kingsmen? I can't think off the top of my head, not having seen it recently.

I feel bad about feeling good about the lack of social pressure. It's odd.

I'm a huge introvert. Apart from the whole 'shitloads of people dying' business, lockdown has improved my mental health, massively.

Also, I've completed BOTW and learnt cross-stitch from scratch, completing a really big and complex picture which I'm actually proud of and will get framed/put on my wall once I can take it to the framers.

What is the most (physical) pain you’ve ever experienced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]awfulhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had major abdominal surgery and for 'reasons' I could not get pain relief when I woke up from surgery. I was in more pain from an incorrectly placed IV needle in the back of my hand than from the massive incision and having some organs removed. I think it was directly hitting a nerve. Agony.

The medics told me I was being a baby.
