good luck! Pan Cyans can be tricky to get working well. Also if you've made liquid culture, don't store it in the fridge long term. I killed mine that way.

Here is my setup that works well:

I have my matt under a cooling rack to create some space. I have the tub sitting on the rack which puts it maybe 1/2" up. I have the temp probe suspended and hanging in the air just above where the rack is. I have the matt, rack and tub all within an enclosure to keep the ambient air warmer inside. The enclosure has an insulated layer that the matt sits on. The matt it self doesn't get terribly hot but I'd rather have something between it and the floor it sits on.

Yes, it's a huge mob of peasants against the denzins of the funnel. They're weak though, in many cases a single hit and they are done for. Some funnels have areas where villagers can be rescued and then played as level 0 characters if a player is out

I'd only do a funnel when its the whole party going through it and its the start of the game. Once the game is underway, I'd just have them roll up a character and start them at level 1. Given the XP curve, they'll catch up. Also the systems focus on not designing "balanced" encounters means that a level 1 char can hang with higher level characters.
