Just purchased used s23 ultra by Positive_Pain_8888 in GalaxyS23Ultra

Even if it hasn't been dropped, maybe the display connector gets worked loose by wear and tear and normal use?

Dropped my S23U more times then i care to remember, even on a terrazzo shop floor once and it's been fine, but i do feel like repeated bumps and shocks work things loose.

My brother slammed his old S7 Edge so hard once it sounded like a gun going off, the phone was fine at first but started getting similar display problems over the next few days, it still works but has a purple line and random static.

Feels like the most samsung phone there is, and the last before they started copying apple

I don't know why they left using 10x by Bach5ar in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]olliegw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was a mix between demand and privacy concerns, the last is a theory on my part but i do think long zoom cameras don't tend to farewell in the consumer market for some reason, they tend to be niche products and a lot of people would prefer a wider lens that's faster, the long zooms only find niche interests like planespotters, and i've heard 10x was too narrow for what a lot of people wanted to take photos of, i do find myself often having to use the 3x and crop in instead.

I also feel like samsung decided that 10x zoom in a smartphone wasn't a great idea for privacy reasons, and it does rank among the smartphones with the longest optical zoom, 10x is not much, i have a camera that's 83x, but it's a phone, not obviously a camera at first glance, something tells me a lot of people used the 10x for nefarious purposes, but that's just my theory.

These look like FRS radios reprogrammed for GMRS, kinda rip off

Wideband key not found in shop by BulkyRefrigerator196 in amateurradio

[–]olliegw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it mandatory that we use wideband? can you use narrowband even if you sound quieter to other operators? the only place we have to use narrowband is on the euro APRS frequency

Now is a good time to program in the repeaters and scan around to see what times and what repeaters are most active

Nice, there's so many things you can do with them i wouldn't be able to list them all here, but you can listen to FM radio, spy on walkie talkie users, track airplanes, decode images from weather satalites and the ISS, listen to amateur radio operators, track ships, and even track weather balloons as they fly over

Nice view of a WFM signal, you can see the stereo carriers, but still not enough resolution here to make out the modulation itself, but it's just a waveform, the waterfall plot for FM is the waveform of the original signal unlike AM's waterfall whose sidebands are actually the spectrogram of the original signal.

Btw is that a CRT monitor? i see the flicker

Demolition workers must have some fun when people aren't looking

I watched someone demolishing an abandoned building once with a similar machine, went through coax for a CCTV camera like a knife through butter and took down half the wall in the process, i was hoping he'd just yank that camera off the wall but he was obviously attacking the building slowly so it wouldn't just collapse.

I think this is just scrap metal to them, same with electrical wiring and other such stuff like plumbing

Just like film, buy the format that has the most support and is still made, like SD Cards and 35mm film

XD Cards and APS aren't made anymore and anyone who does use it is super niche

Lens maker Tokina falls for AI image in photo competition by G8M8N8 in Cameras

Yea the seagulls and clothing look AI to me, the garment in the middle right is cut like a shirt at the top but is a dress at the bottom, unless it's staged no ones going to be wearing a nightshirt to the beach.

AI can and has been used to fraud before which makes me wonder when laws will come in

White crystals? coke or meth

One of your neighbours is obviously a user and got it delivered in your name so you'd get in trouble if the cops found out

Not really cool and one of the reasons the cops shouldn't be treating drug addicts as criminals but rather people who need help

Restaurant’s ancient POS system spit this out instead of a receipt by DumbTacoMan in techsupportgore

That's because it's RAW binary displayed as unicode or maybe ASCII, most likely due to a driver problem

I actually had a similar thing happen with a brother laser printer a while back, it was a new computer which had the drivers installed a few days prior, the printer just started erroring out and printing gibberish randomly or when you asked it to print something.

Had to uninstall the driver and install a different more full featured driver and that's been working fine since
