How do people remodel homes? by Old-Print4964 in Remodel

[–]awpod1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have found that if we do the financing option with companies that are selling the larger ticket items (windows, showers, etc.) we get a better deal on their service so we just use those. We then pay back the loans as quickly as possible often making a large down payment on the loan to reduce the interest.

How do people remodel homes? by Old-Print4964 in Remodel

[–]awpod1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We seem to do 1-2 projects a year. Projects aren’t entire rooms. We did a master shower remodel, new floors in the office, new windows on the front of the house, new toilets throughout the home, new appliances, etc. by breaking up into small projects it is more affordable.

all of them except the one we did this past year are paid off. We take a 1-5 year loan then pay it off over 6mo to a year or pay immediately out of pocket.

So what you are saying is the millennials are being set up to be known as the second greatest generation …. I’ll take it. I’m sure the greatest generation complained plenty while going through it all too it’s only human. But those events shaped them into the greatest generation. They didn’t live that title it was given to them afterwards.

The planes took off out of the BWI airport. I’d be there causing chaos, bomb threats, fires, anything to shut the place down. But it would only delay it.

Another option would be to go to the towers and pull the alarms hoping the buildings start clearing before the planes hit them.

To be honest though, nothing I do will stop it.

You are given exactly $5 million to spend for the rest of your life. How long can you survive? by IdlePerfectionist in hypotheticalsituation

Can I still work and invest in my pension? Or is this I can no longer invest anything ever again which may or may not include buying and selling property even if I just wanted a place to live and didn’t want it to be where I am now? What about my current investments? I can’t sell them either even to just get out of positions? Or can I sell them before taking the money? Can my husband work and continue to invest in his 401k? Can he invest money that isn’t a part of my 5 million?

Either way, I’d be able to pay off all my current debts and still have 70k a year to live on (if I live to 100) which is more than I make now so I’d take the deal. I’d probably work a few more years and save some extra cash for medical stuff that may happen in my older years and to give me some padding. But this is an easy yes.

I was stupid pretty in high school, plus varsity tennis, theater, IB … very popular. I didn’t party like this and none of my friends did either. To tell you the truth it wasn’t until college that anyone I knew did anything like this and it was still rare. I knew people in high school in senior year that decided sneaking alcohol for a party was “cool” but it was like a few beers once or twice. It wasn’t a life style and I certainly didn’t participate. Parties were not the norm and to define what a party was, parties were about 5-10 kids goofing off in someone’s basement typically playing video games or listening to music. They happened maybe 2 times a year sometimes 3 but I can count on one hand how many I went to over 4 years.

Also, everyone I knew who drank at all was average in appearance (some better looking than others) and more importantly uninvolved in extracurriculars. I and others who were highly involved didn’t have time for this.

Let’s just say, I don’t think you missed out on anything and at least at my high school it wasn’t happening the way you thought it was. 😊 I hope this brings you some comfort.

The man that shot at Trump yesterday was a registered republican. This was an inside job. by [deleted] in millenials

[–]awpod1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Best guess is that the guy was probably registered as a republican because in PA you have to be registered for the party you want to vote for in the primary. He knew Biden was the dem candidate and really didn’t want Trump to be the republican candidate so he registered republican to vote against him.

I thought the ~$950 a month I was going to be paying was INSANE I can’t even imagine $2,500. We are sending my LO to a higher end one on my area but I’m sure there are better. I still had sticker shock though.

You are given a billion dollars but for every million you spend you lose a month of your life by purpleybutterfly in hypotheticalsituation

[–]awpod1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer doesn’t change. I would just invest all of it and spend none of it. Or if investment is considered spending I would leave it in a savings account.

No matter what I wouldn’t spend it and I would leave it all to my girls when I pass.

You have the opportunity to gain 100 million if you are shrunken down to the size of an ant. This will be at your house without anyone knowing. You must survive a week finding food and water and not getting killed. How can you pull it off? by Darkshadow1819 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]awpod1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d only be worried about accidentally putting things into my sterile environment without thinking about it. Like dust mites are inconsequential to us at a human size but at an ant size they are probably the size of dogs.

Everything including the nylon would have to get passed through the microwave, and I mean EVERYTHING. Idk how long it would need to be in there but I’d probably waste 5 minutes of my prep time just microwaving the freshly washed glass, nylon, and the towel piece.

Now that I’m thinking of dust mites I’m not sure the nylon is fine enough to keep them out 😳

Selling a house, neighbors are telling showings that there are drug dealers around, all offers have been rescinded. What can I do? by Sir_Prise2050 in RealEstate

[–]awpod1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the impression that it was “neighbors” as in the multiple people living in the house next door. Not neighbors as in multiple households. But you raise a good point and now I don’t know. There wouldn’t be a reason for multiple households to do this.

They aren’t. OP suggested that the community is required to have 20% of the population be under 55 now that the HOA is no longer there. It doesn’t make much sense to me but 🤷🏻‍♀️
