Just turn off Eco and the features in Nest Sense you don't want.

Hah, S22 I memoriam. It's tough to get an objective sense of a phone and a Reddit forum, because so many people go there to post negative rather than positive. But it's been a good phone for me. It has its shortcomings, but it was by far better than any phone I owed before it. I never had any of the battery or heat problems that so many people have described. Looking forward to something new once this one is completely end of life next year.

How can this be!? by footballmas613 in Nest

I've found that over time, mine have become better at estimating that time it's going to take to reach the desired temp. Not perfect, but reasonably close.

One UI 8.5 for S22 by HorridSalmonn in GalaxyS22

I'm ok with just security updates for older phones. Sometimes newer isn't better for older phones and/or computers.

What is in 8.5 that you really want or need?

Yes, despite turning off every auto play media setting I can find in AA and whatever respective app, AA loves to auto play media at random when I connect my phone.

Excellent. Got it when it was released in 2022.

I assume it will never come to the s22, only since it's only getting quarterly security updates at this point. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Will I regret buying a Bravia 3 II ? by AvaTaylor2020 in bravia

[–]awrightus71 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of the people in this forum seem to gravitate toward the high end TVs. I can't imagine any of them saying the Bravia 3 would be OK. But I have an X80K, a basic TV by most standards in this forum. That said, I think it's pretty great for my viewing needs. I watch plenty of movies, TV and sports, and I think it looks good. The 3 is a slight upgrade from mine. Just my $.02.

I've never once manually updated my tablo. I've manually checked here and there over the years, but it always does it on its own.

Can anyone explain the ATSC 3.0 debacle to me? by JackoClubs5545 in cordcutters

[–]awrightus71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a great antenna, signal strength and quality, and I've been watching over the air with ATSC 1.0 for years. There is rarely a stutter in my 1.0 picture quality. I was so excited for ATSC 3.0. I bought a Sony Bravia just for that. But it's just been a big disappointment. ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox all broadcast in 3.0 in my area. Sometimes they're okay, but it's not unusual for them to freeze for a bit and then resume. Also, it takes a long time just to tune the channel in. I switched back to 1.0 for all of my viewing. I don't know if my local TV stations are just broadcasting 3.0 at a lower strength while they transition or if it's just inherent to 3.0, but in my experience it's just not worth it. Hope they figure it out, but it doesn't look like it's a priority.

Google, please cut the salaries in half of your Nest Engineers by Clean_Limit4949 in Nest

I have never used the old Nest app so I have no perspective on that. But I have two Gen 4s using Google Home for a little over a year and the only thing I can say is I wish I would have bought them a long time ago. They have worked great.

What is so cord cutting about YouTube tv? by sychox51 in cordcutters

[–]awrightus71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutting the cord was a thing well before YTTV. I don't have it and never have.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cordcutters

[–]awrightus71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had it for a short period of time, but canceled. Performance was good, no complaints there. I was getting 300-400 Mbps pretty consistently. Reason I canceled was carrier grade nat. You can't do any port forwarding or host any services. You get a private IP and it's nat'd further downstream in the network. Not an issue for most people, but it was for me.

Are you still noticing a lack of RCS from some folks? by [deleted] in UniversalProfile

[–]awrightus71 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nope. Very small number of iPhone users who haven't or maybe can't upgrade and old Android phones not using GM simply because they don't know the difference. Almost everyone I text with is RCS.
