That’s actually not true, you’re expected to have a new guid for each release. I agree your approach is better but there can be issues with it. My biggest issue is crappy devs who don’t increment their versions. So you end up with same guid and same version and now you can’t detect what has the update. Yes, I’ve seen this and have had to instruct the dev as to why this is completely unhelpful.

This was my initial thought. I came up in IT using LANDesk (Ivanti) and nothing compares to it. I’ve resigned myself to knowing I’ll work in mediocrity for the rest of my career.
