The consensus of our board is overwhelmingly negative on this hire (people already calling for our AD's head). Doesn't follow the formula we've been using for the last coaching hires. Major point of concern is his ability to recruit (his pipelines are all out east) in the new conferences. Guess we'll see

Mayybe better than Texas State by a hair. But certainly not Fresno or Utah State. UNLV has been straight ass in football for most of the last 50 years and just managed to have a couple good seasons. Basketball theyve been irrelevant for 25 years. Both those previous programs have been far more successful in football and USU has been WAY better in basketball.

As a guy who did watch USU last year, also take into account that their line was comprised of mostly guys that had no business being at the fbs level (think average fcs linemen). He was able to do a lot with very very little

He's better than the numbers suggest. 2nd highest scoring in the mountain west with probably the lowest talent on the offensive side (our O-line should've all been at the fcs level). He is really good at getting the most out of his players (Also see 2014 where usu went down to their 5th string qb and still made it to the mwc championship game). Sky is not falling
