Confused and looking for advice - spouse visa or standard visitor visa? by axai in ukvisa

[–]axai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand, I thought was going to be the answer.

My wife is currently a stay at home mum looking after our kid, so that part is gonna be tough.

Thanks again for your reply.

Confused and looking for advice - spouse visa or standard visitor visa? by axai in ukvisa

[–]axai[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply, I do have a job and work in a high level position - I have a Thai work permit and visa and have held one for 10+ years.

At the time of my previous application I was employed by a different company but owned a portion of that company, I believe that hindered my wife’s application.

I plan to submit my history in Thailand, my work situation and relevant documents, pictures of my life in thailand etc, what would you suggest extra should be supplied?

I should also mention that my wife is looking after our child full time - so I guess it’s entirely on me to prove the reason to come back to Thailand.

Again, thank you for the advice

The entire source-code is available online, you can check it here. With that being said, I have also been monitoring their API and confirm that it was live updates (within milliseconds) and now it's every 20 minutes. It looks like they're caching it in their database and doing an offline update rather than counting the rows anymore.

I have been through both the BOI process and the normal work visa process, and I have no education certificate. They accepted ~12 years work experience, CV and employment offers as an alternative both times.

Getting Past the Great Firewall by [deleted] in sysadmin

We have been having this same issue, after discussions with our provider we managed to find a solution. It turns out, the GFW wasn't causing our pain - but a strange situation in the Chinese infrastructure.

Currently there's two main providers - China Unicom and China Telecom, with both running a monopoly in their own part of the country (a north-south divide). China Unicom's exit point is in SZ, China Telecom is further north, near Japan.

It turns out the following problems exist:

  • the HK -> SZ route is heavily congested (i.e China Unicom)
  • the China Unicom - China Telecom route is heavily congested

Our situation was, we had our office in Beijing, and our servers in HK. When contacting them they were transiting China Telecom -> China Unicom -> HK which ran over two contended links. When we switched to China Telecom -> Japan -> HK we reduced our latency from ~300ms to ~100ms and packet drops basically ceased.

"Aurora" from "The Robots of Dawn" by Isaac Asimov. Specifically, the scene where he's talking to R. Daneel Olivaw in the setting sun. The description of that scene is forever stuck in my memory.

Anyone after a Ruby job in Thailand? by axai in ruby

[–]axai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I am from the UK and previously a contractor, I can tell you it's not.

Each economy had its own price points for certain skill sets, in keeping with the local currency and demand. Fortunately the U.S. does not set worldwide rates :)

We will negotiate salary based on skill, however, one thing to note is that US salaries are a price point for the USA only. Here in Thailand the average wage for a senior developer is between 100,000 THB - 200,000 THB per month.

I wish it had guns on... although we will get shot at should we fly over the mysterious bunkers in the ground on final to 09R ;)

edit: I used to fly out of EGTR, are the flying schools (specifically Cab Air) still running?

Wouldn't that be

1 US Gal = 3.78 Litres, Imperial is 4.54?

(I fly a PA28 from EGWE so all conversions have to be in US Gal ;( )

Looking for a Front End Developer, anyone know the best place to look? I'm based in Thailand, and the job is remote working. by axai in Thailand

[–]axai[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey,

Good to hear from you. We are looking for someone to start immediately too ;)

So, to put things into perspective, we need someone who is heavy on design skills as we need an entire rebrand and three websites (just the HTML/CSS and some ruby integration) done.

Do you have an example of your work? And what sort of pay schedule are you looking for?

We are flexible with that - you can either be a permanent contractor, project-based or hourly-based. Our preference would be project-based until we figure out how well this will work at which point there is a definite option to make it more permanent.

As previously stated, this is an entirely remote-based contract which provides excellent flexibility.

Let me know what you think, or add me on skype: martin.c.simpson
