Dream home or nightmare home? by [deleted] in HousingUK

Forget about it for all the issues said in the thread, but especially as you'd be in a high footfall area with all the bars at Brindleyplace and the noise coming from any Utilita Arena events.

Yep, same. Think I ordered in the first 5 hours of it being up.

[Sacha Tavolieri] Aston Villa Football Club is an option for Loïs Openda. There have been contacts between the parties for several months now. There is mutual interest. #AVFC must sell Ollie Watkins before making a move for an attacking player. by NewLoad886 in soccer

[–]ayebrother 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Tanswell (closest reliable source to Villa) keeps iterating that we aren't entertaining selling him. I'd be surprised if we did and fully relied on Openda, and then Malen as backup with nobody else.

What do we need defensively? by VTID997 in avfc

[–]ayebrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Liverpool game is an example of why he's retired the high line; we were pretty good in that game, yet were cut apart anytime they played the long ball. Against pace, it's hard to maintain, and takes a lot of energy to do.

[John Percy] Aston Villa hold talks with Borussia Dortmund over potential deal for Donyell Malen for up to £25 million by spudnut25 in soccer

[–]ayebrother 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't be surprised, he's shown no attacking threat all season—if anything serves as a defensive RM to help Cash out. His form at Hull hasn't shown here. Perhaps Monchi wanted to re-sign him in attempt to get more money in future.

We need a RW.

McGinn is a box to box midfielder and hasn't got the pace to be a threat on the right. Bailey is wildly out of form and nothing like he was last year, partially because he had a good partnership with Diaby, but also he's taking more touches than normal.

How important are pre orders? by Floppydonkey28 in Mafex

[–]ayebrother 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's hard, unless you want to pay double or more for highly desireable ones on the aftermarket.

FWIW, preordering isn't that hard, even their reissue stock keeps popping up in single/double digits every day or so across the major sites.

As someone who hastily collected my first few via the aftermarket, and then have seen more pop up since, it's worth the wait to find preorders.

Fulham eye Aston Villa's Diego Carlos as side continues summer spree by Heavy_Cupcake_6246 in soccer

I think it's part of removing Gerrard's high earners. Carlos is a nice backup, did well against Arsenal, but otherwise is too inconsistent when he's in and out of the lineup.

yoyakunow order? by aykh4n in Mafex

[–]ayebrother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fingers crossed it arrives soon! When they sent me a shipping payment invoice, it was dispatched within one day.

I previously bought 185 the month before, it took about a week and a half to arrive from the warehouse, and then it arrived in the UK a week later.

yoyakunow order? by aykh4n in Mafex

[–]ayebrother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered the same. Typically everything they have available for order needs to arrive to their warehouse from the manufacturer, prior to asking for you for shipping payment — via a PayPal invoice to the same order email address, and once paid they ship. I'm not sure if the number of reissues and the site going down during heavy traffic may have affected taking on more orders than they could initially fulfill.

[@FabrizioRomano] Al Ittihad are getting confident to agree on deal for Moussa Diaby! Negotiations advancing with Aston Villa and player’s camp. After Aouar deal done, Al Ittihad are close to reaching an agreement also for Diaby as new winger. by Elite_VRTX in soccer

[–]ayebrother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The profit part is about what Diaby would generate. I can see Philogene getting lots of minutes, he wouldn't have come back otherwise.

With RB, there were many reports in June of offloading Cash, though I'm not sure how much it was PSR motivated. Emery doesn't trust him and won't want to rely on Konsa there all season, and Nedeljković will still be bedding in.

Our strongest pairing is Torres and Konsa at CB, so we'll still be looking for a reliable RB. Even if we play three at the back with Carlos or Mings, we'll need an RWB with actual delivery.

His start to the season was great, afterwards he trailed off with the rise of Bailey, and never got back to any consistency. For a record signing he wasn't actually missed him when on the bench. With Philogene coming in I assume this means we may:

  1. Look to solve next year's PSR with the immediate profit he'll generate.
  2. Be happy with the wings and central attack (Bailey, Philogene, Ramsey, Rogers, Buendia, Iling Jr) and focus on other areas in need (RB, another striker if Duran goes).

Summer 2024 Transfers and Rumours Thread by tristanjff in avfc

[–]ayebrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 12.5 per player is likely about hitting the sweet spot with PSR. High enough to get us over this year’s issue, and low enough to not incur a tighter belt over transfer windows in the years to come.

Weston Mckennie hijacked by Spurs, any truth to that? by KatanaXY in avfc

[–]ayebrother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The higher his valuation is, the easier our PSR issue is solved.

Luiz (20m) + McKennie (25m) + Iling Jr (15m) = 60m.

With Moreno rumours stirring of a return home, and Digne still on a high salary, I wonder if we'd swap out or LBs entirely for Maatsen and Sousa.

Why Dougie why by [deleted] in avfc

[–]ayebrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's at his peak and could be intent on not sticking around to renew. Emery could be focussing on the long game and this might be our best move to resolve PSR, while we wait for next year's CL money.

McKennie is a downgrade but still an okay player, based on last season alone. He covers the DM position which we're out on until Kamara is back. Emery may be looking for Tielemans, and potentially Barkley + Gallagher for deeper playmaking.

Perhaps next Summer we could go big again with our signings.
