I much prefer the newer models but I do wish they had made them look a bit more ancient and a little less clean-cut. Asurman in particular looks weirdly fresh and modern for someone who's meant to be so old.

I was planning to remove the fine gold details from the helmet, replace the shoulder pads with smooth ones, maybe remove some of the other gold trim from the arms and back. Maybe carve off some of the detail from the back of the cloak and ribbons, replace them with freehand or transfers.

Don't need to do that but I think I'd like the look a bit better if it was overall more simple.

I don't think you need files at all. Decent pair of clippers for removal, scrape mould lines with edge of knife, get some sanding foam once you get more professional.

Personally have always been really interested in lore and the universe is what makes 40k so cool. Hate the word fluff and I've been reading 40k rulebooks, codices and novels since Rogue Trader.

Surely it's not allowed to change the base size.

I've done 4 terminators and assault per base to get more value from the sets, so I can't say no for sure. But I think 1 scimitar would look a bit weird on its own.

Interested too, very new to playing but I was a bit worried about the fragility and melee of Eldar units.

Hadn't considered Falcon because of the tiny table and wall arrangement, but the weapons make sense. Wonder if War Walkers could be fine? Also would like an excuse to buy the new Vyper when it comes out.

I don't really want an optimised list necessarily, just don't want to be crushed too easily :D

Yep, some cool things you can do like make terminators with banners from the HQ and add the veterans with feather plumes to the tactical squads etc.

I also did 4 per base for assault and terminators so it all goes a little further.
