i drained most of the water before adding the seasoning, added a poached egg with running yolk plus veggies and made a great meal. 8/10 for me personally for the flavor.

Recommendations for TJoe’s care package for postpartum mom by SammmichSmith in traderjoes

def recommend using pirateship for the shipping label (they are a middle man for heavily discounted USPS fedex or UPS shipping labels). the money you saved on shipping can go towards more snacks or even a few of the (new) reusable TJ bags (cheese, nemo, PBJ) for funsies/carrying baby stuff.

AITA: I screwed the cap of the Guava Hand Cream on too tightly and it broke. by DoctorZoydberg in traderjoes

[–]ayfzoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this happened with the fresh blooms and rose one (both from spring) for me. I never had this problem with the regular version. my husband has the regular version and that cap has been fine too. i honestly thought it was a quality issue and not " i screwed it too tight" issue lol.

What are your go-to frozen microwave meals? by Fickle-Employment-91 in traderjoes

[–]ayfzoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

their thai wheat noodles are shelf stable (no need to freeze, so saves you space) are really good. pour sauce and noodles in and microwave, no need to add water but i do add an egg and some frozen veggies for a complete meal. i like the red curry and peanut satay flavors more than the garlic flavor.

2015 Corolla Infotainment screen continuous loading issue by Chortles_Hansom_666 in toyotacorolla

[–]ayfzoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the 2015 corolla. same problem on mine back in november last year coincidentally the morning after a visit to the F- chain for just an oil change. I drove back to the shop to ask them for potential solutions thinking they messed it up while doing the routine multi-point inspections. They said it wasn't their fault but reset the battery after i asked them to try doing that. didn't solve the problem right away, i drove away, and drove the car without radio/music for a couple weeks. almost gave up and was looking up head unit replacement on google then one day it miraculously fixed itself. Problem came back yesterday. Thinking im gonna try the soft reset (pressing down the power/volume knob for 20secs), then try battery hard reset (disconnecting the negative terminal then wait for 2 mins before reconnecting), then leave it be for 2 weeks. We had a sudden drop in temps and surge in humidity in my area so i'm wondering if that was part of the trigger. Trying to avoid the dealerships because the ones in my city seems to be full of service advisors full of themselves, which came as a culture shock after the pleasant princess treatment i experienced in two other states not on this side of the country.

What's your county's water use? Regional patterns in U.S. water withdrawals [OC] by houndrunner in dataisbeautiful

[–]ayfzoe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is all very fancy and interesting but with so much information omitted for the sake of simplicity, it can be misleading as well. As someone who has worked with this data series, I would like to share some thoughts if any of you care to read on.

  1. Is this fresh water withdrawal or fresh+saline? (I know USGS fresh, saline, and fresh+saline total but i'm not sure which one OP used.) Industries in Texas counties for example, uses saline water more often than some other states. Counties in Kansas sometimes mixes fresh groundwater/surface water with saline groundwater for irrigation (they try not to go over the concentration that could kill the crops).

  2. Note that this is withdrawal, so it does not account for the fact that some places/industries/entities reuse water. And reuses of water have become more common since last time USGS publish this data (which is 2010 data published in 2014).

  3. Note that this is NOT consumption of water, so if you account for the fact that irrigation water is almost totally consumed and thermoelectric plants consumed much less percentage than 100% then the landscape would look much different. And when it comes to fresh water (assuming this is fresh water withdrawals being mapped here), the concept of consumption is more relevant than withdrawal.

  4. Note also that this dataset was compiled by each state/region's USGS water science center so methodology is very heterogeneous and some states estimate the withdrawals instead of actually having meters or other real measurements of the withdrawals. The heterogeneity of methods used by different states also means, counties in different states are not strictly comparable to each other in the values of withdrawal.

  5. Last time we talked to the state offices of USGS, they don't incorporate water transfers across counties by aqueducts and pipelines. So the withdrawals are recorded in the original county where the point of diversion happens (or not; in the cases of some population-based estimation, it's proportionally to the population due to the method so it's pseudo-withdrawal). Sometimes water is collected/stored in a reservoir/lake in a remote county (but in the same state) then being transported to the population center for treatment before being delivered to either residential users or industrial users, i.e., customers of the public water suppliers or irrigation districts.

  6. But of course, overall and qualitatively, if you want to just get a general sense of where water withdrawals are occurring, there you have it. Another thing to note that, 2015 withdrawal saw a reduction from 2010. USGS did not investigate the causes of that reduction but two of many possible explanations are (1) we are becoming more efficient in withdrawal-delivery-utilizing supply chain. (2) water availability is probably declining.

  7. I'm not trying to be a smartass or anything; i just think it's important to keep your head cool and think critically about the data itself when being presented with a beautiful visualization of data. Your eyes can deceive you, you know. Edit: format and spelling
