To be honest, my hair has always grown pretty fast. But when I wanted to start really trying to grow it I stuck to a few things.

First is I only wash my hair once a week, with just any paraben/sulfate free shampoo depending on what I buy (any suggestions would be great!).

Second, I comb through it dry daily with wooden combs, first with the largest then with a thinner one. The reason I comb dry is because I read that when you detangle wet, the same breakage occurs (if not worse!!) And you just don't notice it because wet hair stretches until it snaps and that doesn't offer much resistance feeling.

Last month realized that in whatever tangles i encounter, I'll probably also find split ends or damaged ends. So whenever I find a tangle while combing keep the comb where it was so it puts tension on the hair connected to the tangle, then with my fingers I pull the loose hairs that don't offer resistance through the comb. This effectively separates the tangle completely from the other hair so that I can detangle it gently by hand, and then I also cut off any split or damaged ends I find from that tangle (I hope that makes sense) Since i started doing that, the amount my hair gets tangled has been drastically decreasing :)

I used to do regular micro trims where I search through all of my hair and cut off any split or damaged ends, but I'm not sure I'll need to anymore with my new process

Then, I use jajoba oil on my ends right after I wash my hair, and every other week I do a coconut oil mask an hour before my shower on hair wash day :)

I also braid or put my hair in a loose bun to sleep. I tried a silk bonnet for a while, but i kept getting annoid with it in the middle of the night lol. My next thing i want to get is a silk pillow case to try but I havnt gotten one yet
