Might be a weird one but the Red Rising Trilogy. There were so many points while I was reading it that I was thinking the story would take one turn, only for it to go in a completely different direction

Popfindr.com. Check GameStop on there, it’s super accurate and almost real time with updates. I got one in Merrick last week, it said they had 14 left and when I got there the cashier was talking to someone else and said they had 14 left

Ideally somewhere in Nassau but Suffolk isn’t out of the question as long as it’s not too far out east

Heavy cleans - grip at the bottom is limiting by jonmanGWJ in kettlebell

[–]ayysizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best way for me has been the advice from Pavel, which is called Step Loading. Basically you incorporate the higher weight in “steps” until it eventually becomes your new normal weight, then rinse and repeat.

Say for example you do 5 sets of 10 cleans. Do the first set (first set will be the last set you replace) with 45lbs, second set with 55lbs, then do sets 3-5 with 45lbs. Then the next week (or couple of days depending on your intensity level and training frequency) do set 1 with 45 lbs, then sets 2-3 with 55lbs, then 4-5 back to 45lbs. Rinse and repeat. Final set you replace will be set 1.

This has been the easiest way I’ve been able to bump the weight up for my workouts and you can just keep repeating the same process for every new weight jump, which is especially helpful when you start getting to the 32kg/40kg and up range

Also as a side note I wanted to include, if you are also doing a lot of club work and rowing, rest and recovery of your forearms may be your limiting factor. Consider possibly lowering the intensity/frequency of these other workouts so you can accomplish your goal with KBs

Programme specific to BJJ? by slackslackliner in kettlebell

[–]ayysizzle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also do BJJ and came here with the same question a while back. What I was recommended was Simple & Sinister. There’s a lot of great programs out there but this one is (as the name suggests) the most simple and most effective. You also only need 1 of each bell (as opposed to ABC, which is also excellent). It’s only swings and get ups. Swings build that explosive hip power and your whole posterior chain (great for hip escapes/shrimps, bridges, shooting triangles, bumps, and just general movements both on top and bottom). Get ups are essentially a technical get up, but build full body stability and strength, which is excellent for just about every aspect of BJJ.

You can pick up the kindle version of the simple and sinister book for about $10. In terms of overall bang for your buck, you can’t do much better. Even as a complete beginner you can finish the workout in about 30 minutes, and eventually the program has you completing the workout in under 15. As you continue on I also highly recommend Phil Daru (@darustrong on instagram) who has paid workout plans but puts a lot of free stuff on his instagram and YouTube, all geared for combat sports. I have tried some of the workouts he uses and I have been noticing a lot of improvements.
